The Chainsaw Man Theory Reveals the Real Reason Why Pochita Is So Strong

Warning: SPOILERS for chapter #185 of Chainsaw Man

One of chainsaw manPochita’s oldest mysteries involve the source of Pochita’s devastating power. The series’ own rules dictate that a demon is only as powerful as the concept they represent is feared. Something like the Death Devil would put the Tomato Devil to shame, as the former is named after a concept greatly feared by all humanity. And while chainsaws probably evoke a respectful amount of fear in people, they’re not exactly supposed to provide the power of “the devil that demons fear most.”

However, Pochita is the Hero of Hell anyway, and one of the most powerful demons that is not considered Primal or Knight. Although the series has largely put the mystery of Chainsaw Man’s strength on the back burner throughout Part Two, it appears that the latest Chapter #185, titled “Stomach in Another World” is finally shedding some light on Pochita’s abilities. . And just as fans expected from Tatsuki Fujimoto, the potential reason is something no one could have expected.

chainsaw manThe recent chapters of have been strange, but that’s nothing new for the series. In the midst of the long-awaited confrontation between Yoru and Chainsaw Man, both characters are teleported to the world of the Aged Demon. After some self-reflection on Denji’s part, he begins his grand escape plan. Chapter #185, however, includes a sudden introduction of previously unexplored resources chainsaw man traditionexplaining the potential reason for Pochita’s destructive power.

Chainsaw Man is powerful for an unexpected reason

Trees may be the true source of Pochita’s strength

The most striking images found in Aging’s World, besides the serene landscape scenes, are the people who have turned horribly into trees. Identified by the naked man hugging one of those trees as “the only way out”, the Aging Devil admits he is not responsible for the tree peopleexplaining that they went through the transformation on their own. And not just some of the trees are actually human, they all are.

This revelation that humans are simply capable of turning into trees is interesting and hearkens back to a conversation between Denji and Barem in Chapter 170. When discussing Chainsaw Man’s mysterious ability to erase concepts from existence, Denji loudly exclaimed that “Chainsaws don’t have that power… They’re tools for cutting down trees!” He was right at that moment and the statement didn’t seem all that remarkable, but Chapter #185 completely recontextualizes the true purpose of the chainsaw.

If trees were people capable of feeling pain, as they do in the Aging World, then they would naturally be afraid of things too. And nothing can be more Worthy of being feared by trees than chainsaws. It’s possible that not only demons and humans fuel the fear that fuels Pochita’s chainsaws, but also the tree people. While this theory may seem absurd even by Fujimoto’s standards, it becomes a little more plausible when we remember a comment from Makima in Part One.

The story of the previously forgotten series is starting to be explained

During the powerful Pochita’s first appearance in chainsaw manMakima briefly explained his ability to erase the concept attached to any demon he eats. Throughout history, Chainsaw Man has erased several concepts that humanity can no longer remember, including World War II, nuclear weapons, and a sixth sense that all humans once had. The important ones, as far as the events of Chapter #185 are concerned, are the four possible conclusions other than death at the end of a person’s life.

The rules of the Aging Devil world haven’t been fully established, other than that no one can age while there. Since death is not a possibility, it is possible for people to turn into trees after reaching the culmination of thought. is one of those possible conclusions that Makima mentioned. It’s a strange concept but one that Fujimoto has already written in a story like his previous manga even stranger Fire Punchdid something similar with his World Tree.

If Pochita had already eaten that possibility, however, it remains unclear how people are transforming. chainsaw man is in the midst of one of its strangest and most unpredictable arcs yet, but it looks like Chapter 185 is finally starting to tie up some of the series’ loose ends. Future chapters will likely continue to be equally unpredictable, but it appears that the explanations for chainsaw manThe mysterious world may arrive sooner or later.
