Warning: Contains spoilers for Chainsaw Man chapter #176
Asa and the War DevilYoru, the protagonist of Chainsaw Man Part two, while sharing the same body, have separate motivations that go hand in hand: Asa wants to save Denji, and Yoru wants to defeat the Chainsaw Man. The problem, however, is that Neither has the cataclysmic power that needs to be doneAt least until the last chapter #176 of Chainsaw ManWith the title “Two Children”.
The only details that have been shared about their abilities so far is that anything Asa and Yoru see fit for them can be made into a weapon, And the more guilt involved in its creation, the more powerful it will become. The rules are shown when Asa turns her school uniform and apartment into swords, two of her strongest weapons in the story so far.
However, in an early flashback during the new chapter, Yoru reveals that the weapon she needs to defeat the Chainsaw Man will require much more guilt than making the swords. As the focus turns to their current battle with the original form of Chainsaw Man, she creates her ultimate weapon by sacrificing two of her most precious belongings, Her children: the tank and gun devils.
Chainsaw Man’s Asa is now powered by the Gun and Tank Devils
In another twist, the War Devil is the mother of the dreaded Gun Devil
There was a brief moment during the previous chapter of Chainsaw Man In which Asa and Yoru seemed truly defeated, and not just in the context of their battle with Chainsaw Man, but on a fundamental level. The psychological roommates stood before their shared enemy armless, mouthless, And in serious danger of being erased from existence altogether.
Therefore, Yoru does what she feels she must in order to win, arming herself and Asa, literally, with her two children, Tank and Gun. The discovery of Yoru is the mother of the Gun DevilOne of the main antagonists of part one, shake the foundation of Chainsaw ManWhile simultaneously confirming several theories about the nature of the Four Horsemen Devils.
Ever since Makima’s introduction in part one, themes of abusive motherhood ran rampant throughout her characterization, and seemingly continue much more openly in Yoru. By sacrificing her two children, she weaponized them for her own selfish war, fueled entirely by ego.
The acquisition of these two weapons powers Asa and Yoru significantly, while also Trivializing much of Part One’s conflict with the Gun Devil. A presence terrifying enough to drive much of Chainsaw ManHis early plot, his brief appearance with one of the best chapters of the series dedicated to him, now resides on the right arm of Asa and Yoru. The left, holds the power of the tank devil, which has yet to make an appearance in history, but from its name sounds extremely powerful.
Will Asa’s powerups be enough to defeat the Chainsaw Man?
Pochita’s true form is the devil most feared by other devils. His most powerful ability is at odds with existence itself, and perhaps more importantly, he is practically immortal. Unlike other demons, however, Chainsaw Man has another concern that far exceeds his desire for power or notoriety, and that is Denji.. As seen in his fight with Makima in part one, as soon as he was put in real danger, his focus shifted to saving Denji rather than continuing his fight.
Now, armed with weapons powerful enough to threaten the hero of hell, Asa and Yoru may be able to use Chainsaw Man’s weakness to their advantage. If Pochita is truly immortal, inflicting physical damage may not be enough to secure victory, no matter the strength Asa and Yoru have just gained. But if they can harm or restore him in any way, Pochita can only throw in the towel in order to save Denji’s life. He had already sacrificed himself for Denzi’s sake. It’s little to say he wouldn’t do it again.
Regardless of their plan, Asa and Yoru just got the single biggest powerup in the entire series. Since they were severe underdogs in their fight with the titular devil, the duo now have the opportunity to turn the tides of their war. Fans can be assured that the upcoming chapters will probably have some of the most intense combat Chainsaw Man Part two has to offer.
