The question of which Joestar is the best at JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is hotly contested, because each of the protagonists captured fans' hearts in different ways during their respective arcs. A Joestar who doesn't get nearly enough love is Jolyne Cujoh From the Stone Ocean arc, with many fans considering her the least favorite and the least convincing JoJo of the group. I have a different perspective, and Believe that Jolyne is the best protagonist so far because of her dynamic character arc.
Across the Ocean of Stone, Jolyne's story develops more drastically than any other Jojo, taking her from A shy, troubled individual wrongly accused of a crime she didn't commit, with a powerful heroine Who can face the greatest villain in the world and even sacrifice his own life. Because of this dramatic change in Jolyne's character and the growth she goes through, she is my favorite jojo of all time.
Jolyne's transformation was the most impressive of any character in JoJo's
She was weak and afraid at the beginning of Stone Ocean, a far cry from the end result of her arc
Many Joestar stories begin with the protagonist already destined for greatness from his first moments. For example, Giorno Giovanna already had his incredibly useful position, Golden Experience, at the start of Golden Wind, setting him up for success working with Passion to defeat the villain Diavolo. Likewise, Jonathan Joestar's heroism was present the minute he appeared on screen, as he dedicated his life to saving others, even his stepfather, Dio Brando, who ultimately betrayed him. Jolyne's early life was markedly different from the other Joestarspunctuated by crime together with his gang, called Hell Riders.
As Jotaro's daughter, Jolyne struggled with his absence as she went on missions and lashed out by stealing and even landing herself in prison. When her life finally seems to be turning around, as she prepares to attend college soon, she falls in love with her boyfriend, Romeo, when he accidentally hits and kills a man with his car and ends up in Green Dolphin Street Prison. At this point in the story, Jolyne had not yet awakened her free stone, felt abandoned by Jotaro, I realized that her boyfriend cheated on her for his own gain and was overall lower.
Viewers witness Jolyne gradually becoming a better person through her actions, and that's why I love her
Jolyne courageously protected her friends and even ended up dying for one of them in selfless and selfless sacrifice
It's rare to see a Joestar who starts his story at absolute rock bottom, but that was something I really appreciated about Jolyne, because It's easier to see her maturation into a better person because of how much trouble she faced At the beginning of the Stone Ocean. Jolyne finally realized the abilities of her stone-free position and realized she had a choice: use her powers for good or continue her evil ways. Fortunately, she chose the former and teamed up with her father, Jotaro, as well as other prisoners, to save the world from Pucci.
In Jolyne's youth, she was selfish, stealing everything she wanted and hurting others without thinking about anyone's feelings but her own. How she built genuine friendships with JoJo's Characters like Ermes, Foo Fighters, Weather Report, Emporio, and Anasui, Jolyne has developed true empathy and a protectiveness for the people she cares about, throwing herself in the way to keep them safe and openly mourning the deaths of those who gave up their lives. during battles they fought as a team, as Foo Fighters. Jolyne may not have been honorable at first, But she became this way by giving up her old behaviors.
Jolyne's arc triumphs over other characters' stories because of how she grows
While other Joestars have always been noble, Jolyne had to fight to this point and eventually give up everything
In a way, Jolyne's journey is even more inspiring to me than a character like Giorno or Jonathan Who has always been noble, because although I think her stories are admirable, Jolyne definitely had more obstacles to overcome, internal and external. Stone Ocean's setting, Green Dolphin Street Prison, is also a very creative and clever placement choice for the story, because it puts all the characters in constant proximity, allowing for a lot of character development, and raises the stakes of every scene, forcing Jolyne dreaming up cunning ways to carry out missions within the confines of the prison.
In the last battle with Enrico Pucci, Jolyne proved one last time that she completely transformed from a careless criminal to a sacrificial hero. Jotaro died trying to protect Jolyne from Pucci, but his action was futile because she turned around and essentially followed her father's respectable example, dying so that Emporio could survive to continue the work he started and ensure that Pucci didn't destroy humanity. Thanks to Jolyne's touching sacrifice, Emporio defeated Pucci with the Weather report's position, and although she didn't deal the final blow, her actions were what made her victory possible.
Jolyne marked an important change in Araki's writing for future parts of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure
He began writing not just characters who grow physically, but ones who transform mentally and emotionally.
Jonathan, Joseph, Jotaro, Josuke and Giorno are all excellent protagonists, but much more static and unshakable than Jolyne. Although each of them becomes physically stronger during their arc, They don't metamorphose mentally and emotionally in the pronounced Jolyne way. Jolyne appears to represent a change in Araki's writing style, because Part 7's Josuke undergoes similar changes of heart, rather than just substantial changes in physical strength like his predecessors. Jolyne is my favorite Joestar in JoJo'sLike this, As she teaches a valuable lesson: no matter how low you've fallen, it's never too late to change your life and do better.
