This has resulted in some memorable costumes that serve as quirky wordplay, elaborate team costumes, or something truly unexpected. Tina, Gene and Louise always find something fun to use on their trick-or-treating adventures, making the Bob’s Burgers Even more fun Halloween episodes.

Mommy
Tina, Season 8, Episode 3 – “The Wolf of Wharf Street”
In Bob’s Burgers In Season 8, the Belcher kids are ready for their annual trick-or-treating excursion with some very different costume options. While Gene is dressed as a stem full of grapes, Tina gets creative with her simple but fun costume. She introduced herself as a “mommy.”
Instead of being a cross between a mummy and a zombie, Tina decided to pay homage to her own mother, Linda.. She borrowed Linda’s iconic red shirt and blue jeans while wearing green face paint. Linda even made the joke that Tina looks cool and young instead of like a mother. Tina responds, saying that in those jeans she “totally looks like a mother.”
Despite the little research into her mother’s fashion choices, the costume is a beautiful tribute to Linda. It also works well with Tina’s personality, who often seems wise beyond her years, even when she indulges in other children’s activities like trick-or-treating.

Fiona Applesauce
Gene, Season 10, Episode 4 – “Pig Trouble in Little Tina”
Just as the series turns its episode titles into puns, Gene has a similar idea. One of his best Halloween costumes came in season 10, when he dressed up as a fun play on words that put a twist on Grammy-winning artist Fiona Apple’s name, paired with a jar of sauce. At first, Linda has no idea who he is dressed as, so Gene explains that he is Fiona Applesauce.
Gene wears a brown wig resembling Fiona Apple’s hair while wearing cardboard cutouts from an applesauce jar. Even though the costume is a little difficult to understand at first glance, the pun is funny enough to work when Gene explains it. While there are better examples of clever mashup fantasies, the originality of this one is remarkable.. It also shows the shameless boldness with which Gene wears his strange Halloween costumes – which in itself is worthy of applause.

No country for old people
Louise, Season 8, Episode 3 – “The Wolf of Wharf Street”
Louise still really likes the idea of trick-or-treating, but she also likes to adopt more serious characters in her costumes. In this case, she is inspired by Javier Bardem’s character Anton Chigurh in the Oscar-winning film No country for old people. She wore the cropped wig and brown jacket and even created a makeshift version of Chigurgh’s terrifying oxygen tank weapon. Chrigurh is one of the most terrifying movie villains of all time and seeing Louise gleefully take on the incredibly violent persona is a funny image.
This is one of many examples of Louise innocently adapting an extremely R-rated film into her Halloween costume. Given the cold-blooded, sadistic nature of the nihilistic character in the Coen brothers’ film, it’s fun to have Louise in the role. However, although Chigurh’s appearance in the film is unforgettable, his wig looks normal on a girl. making it not obvious who she is dressed as at first glance.

Ryan Gosling from the Drive trailer
Louise Season 5 Episode 2 – “Tina And The Real Ghost”
One of the recurring jokes in Bob’s Burgers Halloween episodes is that Louise doesn’t scare easily. This helps explain their affinity for dressing up as characters from violent, R-rated films. Seeing her choose to leave trick-or-treat like Ryan Gosling’s character in the neo-noir film Drive is another great example.
It’s more of a movie-accurate recreation of the look, with leather driving gloves, a white jacket and even a toothpick. The Halloween costume might have been less memorable, however, if it weren’t for Louise’s description of it as coming from “the film trailerand Drive” Suggesting that she is not allowed to watch the film due to her age. The joke adds to the charm of the costume and enchants Louise in the eyes of film fans with her ability to capture the memorable look in the trailer alone.

Mom Mom
Tina, Season 3, Episode 2 – “Full Bars”
Tina continues the trend of using her Halloween costumes as an opportunity to honor her mothers. This one combined the struggle of a single mother and a classic mummy character. She calls herself “Mommy Mummy” and covers herself entirely in toilet paper. To add the dad effect, she also wraps a doll in toilet paper. It’s her monologue that shows how much she thinks and the backstory she puts into these characters and also talks about being a strong woman.
She says she is a single mother working two jobs just trying to get back to work. Bob is more concerned that Tina doesn’t waste toilet paper and asks her to return it when she’s done. Although the costume isn’t the most creative, as the mummy wrapped in toilet paper is a bit of a cliché, it deserves points for the way Tina presents it. Even with her monotone delivery, she can often be counted on to add sweetness to your Halloween costumes.

Sher-Loch Ness Monster
Tina, Season 12, Episode 3 – “The Pumpkinening”
The creativity and dedication that the Belcher children have with their Halloween costumes is one of the reasons they have become something of a joke. Bob’s Burgers. Instead of choosing one idea that will suit most people, they feel the need to combine it into two ideas to ensure it is as original as possible. Such is the case with Tina’s Sher-Lock Ness Monster choice, which sees her combining the famous detective Sherlock Holmes with the legendary Scottish creature, the Loch Ness Monster.
The paper mache monster head does most of the work in this costume, but the deerskin cap on top really sells the set. It’s another fun pun that’s appropriately unusual and also suits the smarter quirks of the Belcher children, especially Tina. It’s also one of the examples of how the Belchers are willing to compromise on less travel-friendly attire to stand out.
9
Twisted
Group Costume, Season 13, Episode 6 – “Apple Gore-Chard (But Not Gory)”
The Belcher children are very close siblings, especially on Halloween, as they love going on trick-or-treating adventures together. They’re even willing to team up for a group costume idea. Although season four had them planned for a Chinese dragon costume, it never came to fruition. However, season 13 Bob’s Burgers The Halloween episode saw them make another attempt with an elaborate tribute to the film Twisted.
With Tina wearing hoola hoops as twister and Gene as Bill Paxton, they keep hilariously insisting that the whole thing will only work when Louise returns from her field trip in her Helen Hunt costume. The added charm of all the kids working together to make this costume work elevates it even further among the other costume selections. With the popularity of TwistedIt would be fun to see the costume return with Glen Powell and Daisy Edgar-Jones added to the mix.

The Bjorn Identity
Louise Season 10 Episode 4 – Pig Trouble in Little Tina
In the same Season 10 episode where Gene dresses up as Fiona Applesauce, Louise outdoes him with an even better costume that serves as a brilliant play on words. Instead of simply dressing up like Matt Damon’s Jason Bourne character from The Bourne Identityit was called “The Bjorn Identity”, which is simply Jason Bourne using a BabyBjörn. Not only is it another one of the fun mashup costumes the series does so well, but it’s also another more mature movie character idea for Louise.
The idea conjures up a hilarious image of Jason Bourne doing his action hero antics while having a baby strapped to him, which makes it a fun costume just from the name alone. However, Jason Bourne isn’t exactly a character who has a memorable costume or look, so Louise’s efforts are somewhat wasted. In the end, the play on the name is enough to push the idea forward.
7
Sand Witch
Tina, Season 7, Episode 3 – “Teen-a-Witch”
THE Bob’s Burgers Season 7’s Halloween episode shows Tina taking drastic measures to win the school costume contest, including attempting to cast a curse. However, her smart choice of costume should have been enough to make her the winner as a “Sand Witch”, who is a witch between two pieces of bread. While Belcher’s costumes can sometimes be too complicated for their own good, Tina manages to keep them relatively simple while still embracing her unique style.
Just like the “Mummy” costume, this one is great for taking a classic Halloween idea and adding a unique twist to it. There is also special recognition for the fact that it is one of the only cases where the costume choice actually ties into the plot of the episode itself, making it even more impressive.
6
Turner and Hooch
Gene, Season 5, Episode 2 – “Tina And The Real Ghost”
Although the Belcher children have tried some inventive group Halloween costumes in the past, Gene proved he was capable of dressing up as multiple characters on his own. He chose to pay homage to the classic crime comedy Turner and Hooch, which starred Tom Hanks and a dog as partners. To achieve this, Gene simply dresses half his body as Tom Hanks and half his body as a dog.. It’s yet another moment that showcases Gene’s captivating creativity and lack of need to live up to expectations.
The costume is particularly memorable because it gives a brief glimpse into Gene’s wonderfully absurd mind. While he could have tried so hard and simply acted like a dog, his mind decided that the funniest idea would be a reference to a 1980s crime comedy.
5
Queen Latifah
Gene, Season 3, Episode 2 – “Full Bars”
Gene loves dressing up as famous and inspiring people on Halloween. It was no surprise that one Halloween he dressed up as rapper/actress Queen Latifah during her UNITY phase at the beginning of her music career. Specifically, he took inspiration from her outfit at the 2010 BET Awards. It’s a hilariously accurate recreation of the memorable look. He even copied the African-shaped necklace.
There are many instances where the audience is left wondering where the Belcher children came up with the reference for these costumes and this is one of the funniest to think about. The only discrepancy was the color of the jacket, which in real life was black. Even with this small oversight, the idea that he would have referenced this look makes the choice funny.
4
André 3000 The Giant
Gene, Season 9, Episode 4 – “Nightmare on Ocean Avenue Street”
Gene really got the upper hand when he introduced himself as “Andre 3000 the Giant.” He is a mix of famous professional wrestling icon and actor Andre the Giant and Andre 3000. Andre 3000 was known for being part of the rap duo Outkast. Gene combined André the Giant’s signature wrestling attire with André 3000’s signature goatee and hat.
The mash-up of the two is one of those jokes that seems like someone should have already invented it and is made funnier by how obvious it seems. Once again, the memorable mashup costume also serves as a glimpse of Gene’s own preferences for Halloween costumes seem to focus on icons from long before his time. The costume also gets an added bonus by Tina’s remark, “So Fresh, So Gene,” in reference to the Outkast song, “So Fresh, So Clean.”
3
Nun of your business
Tina, Season 9, Episode 4 – “Nightmare on Ocean Avenue Street”
Season 9 Bob’s Burgers The Halloween episode showed the Belcher kids really outdoing themselves in terms of costumes. Along with Gene’s “Andre the Giant 3000”, Tina is dressed as a nun holding a briefcase. She tells Linda that she is dressed as “Nun from your business”. The fact that Linda doesn’t get the joke and thinks she’s just being a grumpy nun who has a lot of work to do adds to the humor.
The costume works especially well for Tina, as the combination of a business-minded professional, a stern and serious nun, and her own dry sense of humor make for the ideal combination. Even she explains the clever idea with a straight face is funny. It’s also a subtle but clever costume, as it’s easy to ignore the briefcase and simply see her as a nun.
2
Dragon with girl tattoo
Louise Season 9, Episode 4 – “Nightmare on Ocean Avenue Street”
Although none of the costumes in Season 9’s Halloween episode Bob’s Burgers Ranked as the best of all time, it’s the strongest showing of the bunch, with all three Belchers knocking out their ideas. To finish off Belcher’s costumes in the season nine episode, Louise wears one of her best Halloween costumes that adds a special touch to the film. Once again, Louise takes inspiration from a film she’s too young to see, but changes the title in a simple but hilarious way.
Instead of recreating Lisabeth Salander’s iconic look from The girl with the dragon tattoo, Louise was dressed as a dragon with a girl tattoo. It’s such a simple yet brilliant idea that shows the absurdity of young Louise’s mind to think that she would have created such a concept for a costume.
1
Peter Pan’s Labyrinth
Louise Season 12, Episode 3 – “The Pumpkinening”
Season 12 gives Louise the best Bob’s Burgers Halloween costume to this day, as it perfectly captures the fun the show has with these costumes, as well as Louise’s personal take on them. What initially seems like a simple and charming Peter Pan fantasy is revealed to be another wonderful mashup that also incorporates his love of R-rated films. His “Peter Pan’s Labyrinth” look includes eyeballs in his hands as the creepy character Pale Man from Guillermo del Toro’s dark fantasy film Pan’s Labyrinth.
Along with Louise embracing her favorite Halloween costume trend, the idea also builds on the Belcher kids’ love of puns. However, it also gets bonus points for being perhaps the only Halloween costume of the bunch that can be considered scary as well as funny. That never seems to be the Belcher kids’ goal, but it’s fun to see them take part in spooky season a little.
