Notice! This post contains SPOILERS for The PenguinBatman – Part II has the perfect excuse to bring back two important DC characters. Thanks to a key scene in The Penguin ending, there is a very easy way to bring back Catwoman (Zoë Kravitz), despite the ending of The is Batman from director Matt Reeves. Likewise, the film could also present a major new threat to Robert Pattinson’s Batman with the introduction of Sofia Falcone/Gigante (Cristin Milioti) on the big screen.
As seen in late 2022 BatmanSelina Kyle’s Catwoman chooses to leave Gotham behind. As such, the film ends with Catwoman heading to the nearby sister city of Blüdhaven, while Pattinson’s Dark Knight returns to Gotham City. That being said, The penguin created the perfect way to bring not only Catwoman back to Gotham, but also Giant Sofia, who became a key rival to Oz Cobb in the recent DC show.
Penguin’s ending sets up the perfect justification for Catwoman’s return in Batman 2
Connecting with her half-sister, Sofia Falcone/Gigante
Instead of killing the woman who ran Gotham’s biggest crime family and calling for her head, Oz surprisingly leaves Sofia Gigante to the GCPD in The Penguin end. This is because Oz made a deal with Gotham City Councilman Hady to publicly attribute most of her recent crimes to the former Falcone, while also sending her back to Arkahm State Hospital, where she had just been 10 years unjustly committed after being blamed for her father’s crimes. who murdered and hanged several women. However, Sofia receives a letter from Doctor Rush in her cell in the final scenes of The penguin episode 8.
Notably, the letter is from Selina Kyle, another daughter of Carmine Falcone and Sofia’s half-sister. Likewise, Selina’s mother was murdered in a similar way by Carmine, as was Sofia’s (along with all the other women Carmine has killed over the years). Although the contents of the letter were not revealed, the implication is that Selina heard about Sofia and the dismantling of Carmine Falcone’s empire. As such, The penguin created the perfect scenario to explain Selina’s potential return to Gotham, wanting to connect with her half-sister (and maybe even try to free her).

Keeping this idea in mind, Catwoman and Sofia teaming up in Batman – Part II could create some fascinating new dynamics for Gotham City when and if this new duo potentially returns in the next film.. Furthermore, this is especially true when it comes to the Bat and the Cat’s relationship. After all, it’s pretty clear how Giant Sofia could easily create a new rift between Bruce and Selina in the future.
It certainly seems like Catwoman would have a hard time wanting to work alongside the angels and the rule of law when Carmine has escaped it all for decades. Likewise, Sofia was unfairly punished for much of this (at least before Sofia committed her own crimes). To that end, Selina potentially trying to break her half-sister out of Arkham would likely create some new tensions with Batman.. Either way, it will be very exciting to see if Catwoman and Sofia end up having major roles when Batman – Part II launches in 2026.
