The author of Hunter x Hunter confirms that the series will not disappear for a long time

The man with the most unintelligible X identifier, Yoshihiro Togashiused his extremely popular account to update fans about his health status and to indirectly reassure them that Hunter x Hunter won't be gone for long. After the last batch of chapters were released Shonen Jump Weeklyfans of the series were saddened by the announcement of a new hiatus, but it appears that Togashi is still working hard and his health, although always problematic, is still under control.

News about Togashi's improving health has been circulating for some time, making fans hope that they would finally be able to read more than ten new chapters of Hunter x Hunter every few years. The announcement that the manga was moving from a weekly schedule (which the author has been unable to keep for many years) to an irregular one, tailored to Togashi's needs, also seemed to hint at a better future for the manga and its fans. . This latest announcement seems to confirm that, although one should not expect a new chapter of Hunter x Hunter every week, the gaps of past years are expected to disappear.

Togashi from Hunter x Hunter continues working on his manga

Fans can expect new chapters soon

On December 11, 2024, Togashi shared an image of the end of some pages on X, accompanying it with a statement that the storyboard for a new chapter has been completed. He also explained that he was forced to stay in bed for a few days, but has now recovered enough to walk around the house. This comes just days after the announcement that Togashi would have back surgery, following news of Hunter x Hunternew hiatus.

The next day, December 12, Togashi shared a similar image of another completed storyboard. He added that progress is slow because he still can't sit comfortably in a chair, so for now he will focus on storyboards.

Despite the regretful tone, this message is actually quite hopeful for Togashi fans and its series. It is important to remember that the mangaka has been almost bedridden in recent years due to back problems, unable to work sitting in a chair, except for the short periods of time in which he endured the pain to produce a bunch of new chapters. Between the surgery, which will hopefully help improve his back, and the fact that he's working out regularly, Togashi seems to be in a much better place now.

Togashi's fans will continue to support him no matter what

Although it is impossible to predict exactly when Hunter x Hunter will return to Shonen JumpTogashi seems to be working hard and his health seems to be slowly improving. Hopefully, 2025 will see the release of multiple batches of chapters, an unprecedented treat for fans of Hunter x Hunter.
