One Animal Crossing: New Horizons fan found out the hard way that the donation box is not worth the effortdespite earning 101 thousand bells from the sale when it was a popular item. Some players may have missed this item before, hidden in the Nook Stop ATM as a craftable DIY recipe. When other people interact with the finished item, they can leave a donation of 1,000 bells for whoever owns it, allowing others to thank those who visited in a fun and cute way.
There is a little more in the donation box, as the player Fear_Tiger_4798 I learned when selling a donation box as a “hot item of the day” at Nook’s Cranny. Allowing players to double their money when selling a selected item on these days, players who are lucky with this as one of the options will look to fully fill the donation box with 99K Bells for a return of 200K Bells. But this player underestimated how time-consuming this task would be, as the game forces players to deposit only 1,000 bells at a time: "I'm actually so mad at how long this took."
Are 100k Bells worth the frustration in Animal Crossing New Horizons?
This slow, manual work is not worth it
Earning 101 thousand bells seems like it would be worth the effort Animal Crossing: New Horizons, especially just to sell an "important item" and essentially get free money in return. But The game's limitations make it seem like a frustrating and best avoided method of making moneyunless players really need it. Forcing slow deposits of 1k at once is too much"time-consuming"task when players could enjoy the game in many other ways.
While some might argue that this isn't the worst way to get some free income, one player goes so far as to comment that "It was the biggest waste of my time." It doesn't seem worth the effort to sell a donation box this way, but one commenter has a solution if players really want to try: "I keep a donation box outside my house, I add probably 5 to 10,000 bells a day depending on if I feel like doing that, but I have maybe 7 or 8 donation boxes full in my storage right now!"It's a slow and tedious process, but if players need bells, it's a solution beyond selling crops, fish or insects.
Our opinion: some things are worth it and others are not in Animal Crossing
ACNH was designed to be slow
This isn't the only way players can work the game to make some extra cash for themselves, with plenty of other ways to take advantage of unique mechanics. The game's money trees are a great example of this, allowing players to earn a potential 299,997 bells by burying 99,000 bells and simply waiting to reap the rewards, although the chance of always being the highest possible total varies.
This donation box exploration probably isn't worth the time it takes to do, but If players want to donate slowly every day or leave them on their island for others to donate, it could be worth it. Manually contributing 1,000 bells at a time is slow and Animal Crossing: New Horizons There are lots of other fun ways to make money - even if it's not that much at once. It would be a more enjoyable time to simply fish, harvest crops, dive, catch bugs or even take a tour of the mysterious island to find some unique creatures.
