Based on Alex and Justin Russo's ages, Wizards Beyond Waverly Place is set approximately 15 years after the original show, and a lot has happened since Wizards of Waverly Place. Most notably, Justin (David Henrie) married a mortal woman named Giada and had two sons, Milo and Roman, after being fired as director of WizTech and turning away from his magical powers.
Justin's family is the focus of Wizards Beyond Waverly Placea big change from Wizards of Waverly Placewhich mainly focused on Alex. Selena Gomez's Alex Russo is still a part Wizards Beyond Waverly Place cast of characters, although she is a guest star rather than having a main role. Jerry Russo, another member of the Russo family tree, also has a guest role and has appeared on the show. Until now, however, Wizards Beyond Waverly Place I still haven't brought these 8 back Wizards of Waverly Place characters.

Juliet Van Heusen
Justin Russo's fan-favorite girlfriend is unlikely to make a cameo
In Wizards of Waverly PlaceJustin Russo dated Juliet Van Heusen (Bridgit Mendler), who ended up easily becoming his most popular girlfriend. Their relationship wasn't exactly easy, as Justin discovered that Juliet was a vampire. However, the two got along well and ended up being a very strong couple on the program. At the end of Wizards of Waverly PlaceJustin and Juliet were still together.
Juliet is unlikely to appear on the show.
This made it all the more disappointing when it was revealed that Justin was married to an entirely new character, Giada. Not only does this mean he didn't end up with Juliet, but it also means Juliet is unlikely to appear on the show. As Wizards Beyond Waverly Place is focused on Justin and his family, it wouldn't make much sense for his ex-girlfriend to show up. This is in addition to the fact that Mendler left acting and became CEO and co-founder of Northwood Space.
So far, Juliet hasn't even been mentioned, so it's unclear exactly when and why the couple split. It also seems unlikely that this will be resolved, for the same reasons that it would make little sense for her to have a cameo. While Giada has already proven herself to be a charming and well-suited character for Justin, it's disappointing that Juliet likely won't return to the franchise.

Mason Greyback
Just like Justin's ex, Alex's popular boyfriend Mason has yet to appear on the show
Alex also had an important relationship in Wizards of Waverly Place with Mason Greyback (Gregg Sulkin), a werewolf. Throughout the show, Alex and Mason had an on-and-off relationship, which left the couple's future uncertain. Even so, Mason truly became part of the Russo family, and they often overcame their problems. The odds seemed high that Alex and Mason would commit to each other for the long haul.
So far, Mason has not appeared on the show, nor has Alex mentioned Mason or her current dating status in general. Audiences were hoping for a cameo from Mason, as rumors surfaced that Sulkin was on set filming for the reboot show. While it's been confirmed that he 'visited' the set, it's unclear if it was a true visit or if he will be making some sort of appearance. It seems possible, if not likely, that Mason will appear at some point, given Sulkin's time on set, which could mean that he and Alex are going strong.

Uncle Kelbo Russo
The Russo brothers' wizard uncle didn't have a cameo
The Russo brothers' Uncle Kelbo only appeared occasionally Wizards of Waverly Placebut he proved to be very popular because he was very funny. In Season 3, Episode 13 of Wizards of Waverly Place'Dude Looks Like Shakira', Kelbo hilariously transformed into Shakira with his powers. It was antics like this that made him so lovable, so it makes sense that viewers are excited to see it Wizards Beyond Waverly Place and find out what he's been up to.
Kelbo was also the only wizard in the family between him and his brother Jerry. Originally, Jerry won the Wizarding Competition, which determines who in a wizarding family will retain their powers into adulthood. When Jerry fell in love with Theresa, a mortal woman, he gave up his powers and Kelbo's powers were restored. This would make it even more interesting for Wizards Beyond Waverly Place to provide an update on Kelbo because he is one of the few remaining wizards in the Russo family.

Zeke Beakerman
As Justin's best friend, Zeke should definitely appear
Zeke Beakerman (Dan Benson) was Justin Russo's best friend in Wizards of Waverly Placewhich makes it somewhat surprising that he hasn't appeared or been mentioned in Wizards Beyond Waverly Place until now. In fact, given that Zeke was mortal, this would have been an even better friendship for Justin to maintain, as he hid his magical powers from his wife and children for years; Zeke would have helped with this cover. Bringing Zeke to Wizards Beyond Waverly Place it also wouldn't pose the same problems that bringing in Juliet would.
In that case, Issues occurring off-screen likely led to Zeke's absence and unfortunately mean he's very unlikely to return to the franchise. Benson shared on TikTok that the "different direction" that he has taken on in his life since leaving Disney Channel - referencing his current career in adult entertainment - meant that he would not be invited back. Based on social media, it also appears that there is some bad blood between Benson and Henrie. Unfortunately, this means it's very unlikely that the two friends will reunite, but perhaps Wizards Beyond Waverly Place will explain this somehow.

Bad Alex
Alex Russo's Alter Ego Evil Alex Could Make a Shocking Return
In 2013 Wizards of Waverly Place film, Return of the Sorcerers: Alex vs. Alex, Alex Russo casts a spell to remove the parts of herself that she believes others don't like and inadvertently creates Evil Alex.. As the name suggests, Evil Alex was a completely autonomous alter ego of Alex Russo, with all the “bad” parts of her and none of the good. In the film, Evil Alex works alongside the dark wizard Dominic to try to capture all mortals and dominate the magical world.
Given the hood to hide the villain's true identity and the fact that this person possesses purple magic, this could be Evil Alex.
At the end of Alex vs. AlexAlex absorbs the evil version of herself back into her body. While this means Evil Alex was defeated in the film, these parts of Evil Alex still live within her, opening the door for her possible return. In fact, in episode 9 of Wizards Beyond Waverly Place"Wiz-Taken Identity", it is revealed that a hooded figure is on an evil mission to capture Billie, the young wizard Justin is training. Given the hood to hide the villain's true identity and the fact that this person possesses purple magic, this could be Evil Alex.

Harper Finkle
Harper is perhaps the most notable absence from Wizards Beyond Waverly Place
Viewers seemed very disappointed to find out that Harper Finkle (Jennifer Stone) has not yet appeared in the Wizards Beyond Waverly Place and may not have any cameos in the future. Harper was Alex Russo's best friend for all 4 seasons of Wizards of Waverly Placeand she was arguably as much a member of the Russo family as the brothers Justin, Alex, and Max. She almost always wore a crazy, colorful, heavily accessorized outfit, and played the role of the cheerful fool alongside Alex's sarcastic, trouble-making personality.
She was also an unquestionable fan favorite, which made many hope she would return in the reboot show. Part of the reason for Harper's absence may be the change in focus of Wizards of Waverly Place to Wizards Beyond Waverly Place. Alex is not the protagonist of the spin-off series, and it wouldn't make much sense for Harper to be there when Alex wasn't. However, it's still possible that Harper could appear in the future, which would no doubt delight many viewers.

Max Russo
The younger Russo brother hasn't shown up yet
Only two members of the original Russo family did not have cameos Wizards Beyond Waverly Place so far, and one of them is the youngest of the Russo brothers, Max (Jake T. Austin). In Wizards of Waverly PlaceMax was a typical younger brother, causing trouble and irritating his brothers. Over the course of the show, Max grew into a teenager who was a bit airheaded at times.
Max was also the only Russian brother to lose his powers after Wizards of Waverly Placeas Alex won the Wizard Competition and Justin managed to keep his powers as director of WizTech. It seems that Max didn't take this very seriously, as Wizards Beyond Waverly Place revealed that Max has since become a billionaire. Max has yet to be seen on the show, but his return seems almost guaranteedespecially since Austin has dropped hints that he will appear.

Teresa Russo
The Russo brothers' mother has been absent until now
The last member of the original Russo family who has not yet appeared in Wizards Beyond Waverly Place is the Russo brothers' mortal mother, Theresa (Maria Canals-Barrera). All over Wizards of Waverly PlaceTheresa was the sensible mother, especially since, as the only mortal in the family, she had the least patience for the children's magical antics. Even with her sometimes difficult exterior, it was clear that she loved her children and (in all fairness) got along incredibly well with her family members with magical powers.
Theresa was mentioned in Wizards Beyond Waverly Place. When Jerry Russo revealed that he was working for SPELLP, a helpline for wizards, he explained that he had started volunteering there as a hobby because Theresa had taken up tennis. Given that both parents are together, and Canals-Barrera has appeared in photos alongside the Wizards Beyond Waverly Place cast members, it seems safe to assume that the entire Wizards of Waverly Place The Russo family will be reunited in Wizards Beyond Waverly Place brief.
