The 30 Best TV Shows on Paramount+ (January 2025)

Paramount+ is known for delivering some of the best TV shows on any streaming platform, and as of January 2025, the lineup is still as strong as ever. The first month of 2025 sees the arrival of the original Matlock TV series joining Kathy Bates' new reboot. This classic courtroom drama, starring Andy Griffith, includes all nine seasons. Sci-fi fans are in for a treat this January with the new Star Trek series Section 31 premieres on January 24th. Michelle Yeoh reprises her role as Emperor Philippa Georgiou from Star Trek: Discovery.

The biggest news from December was that Paramount+ is removing several TV shows from its streaming service. This is nothing new, as Paramount and Showtime have removed several shows over the past year. The streaming service has canceled several Nickelodeon shows, including Doug, Blue's Room, Kung-Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness, Fanboy & Chum Chum, The Penguins of Madagascar, Big Time Rush, and Heads of family (through Us weekly). In better news, Paramount+ has renewed Mayor of Kingstown for a fourth season.

  • Hell on wheels

    (2011-2016) [Historical Drama] - Hell on wheels is the brutal drama about the first transcontinental railroad in the US, and the gritty Western drama won several awards during its 2011-2016 broadcast.

  • Dexter: Original Sin

    (2024) [Crime Drama] - The prequel to the hit serial killer series Dexter shows how Dexter Morgan initially killed.

  • Land of Fire

    (2022-present) [Drama] - Programs focusing on firefighters are always fun and Land of Fire it mixes up the formula by focusing on a convict (Thierot's Bode Leone) who volunteers for a program that sees him brave wildfires in the California desert.

  • Twin Peaks

    (1990-1991) [Mystery Thriller] - The surreal show laid the foundation for many series that came after, including mega-hits like Lost and Black Mirror.

  • Blue Blood

    (2010 - present) [Crime Drama] - This sly police procedural focuses on various members of the Irish Catholic Reagan family, many of whom are current or former police officers, and the toll that the job takes on their various relationships with each other and their partners.

    (2019-present) [Horror Drama] - Evil is one of the best horror TV shows of the last five years and has been described as Supernatural do you know The X-Files, with the duo investigating various disturbing events and phenomena.

  • 1923

    (2022-2023) [Period Drama] - Neo-Western drama 1923 is a prequel to yellow stone which revolves around the Dutton family as they deal with events related to western expansion in the 20th century, the Prohibition era, and the Great Depression. Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren star.

  • Beverly Hills 90210

    (1990-2000) [Teen Drama] - When it comes to '90s teen dramas, few shows had more of an impact than Beverly Hills, 90210.

  • Georgie and Mandy's first wedding

    (2024) [Comedy] - The second The Big Bang Theory spin off and sequence of Young Sheldon, Georgie and Mandy's first wedding is set in 1994 and focuses on the trials and tribulations of Georgie Cooper (Montana Jordan) and his wife, Mandy (Emily Osment) as they navigate parenthood.

    (2003-2022) [Crime Comedy] - Created by Robert Ben Garan, Thomas Lennon and Kerri Kenney-Silver (who star in the show), Reno 911! is a mockumentary-style sitcom that parodies shows like Police in a hilarious way.

    (2021-present) [Supernatural Comedy] - Adapted from the acclaimed original British series, Ghosts mixes modern comedy antics with the stories of several ghosts from different eras trapped on an estate with a young living couple.

  • Wrench and peeler

    (2012-2015) [Sketch Comedy] - Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele's self-titled sketch show provides a hard-hitting analysis of contemporary social concerns like racism, inequality, and politics with impressive (and hilarious) big-budget sketches.

  • FBI

    (2018-present) [Crime Procedural] - Paramount+ is home to many Dick Wolf shows, and among the best of them is FBI, which - as the title suggests - focuses on the high-stakes cases that members of the Federal Bureau of Investigation solve.

  • King of Tulsa

    (2022-present) [Crime Drama] - Proof of this yellow stone creator Taylor Sheridan's talents go beyond the world of cowboys, King of Tulsa is a gripping organized crime thriller with Sylvester Stallone in the lead role.

  • Mayor of Kingstown

    (2021-present) [Crime Drama] - Mayor of Kingstown examines what it means when family and crime are inextricably linked to one another. Jeremy Renner shines in the lead role of Mike McLusky, who inherits the family's criminal enterprise after taking a backseat to his brother.

  • Criminal Minds

    (2005-present) [Crime Procedural] - CBS has a reputation for producing popular police procedurals, and Criminal Minds is the crown jewel, focusing on the work of the FBI's behavioral analysis unit.
