The 13 Best Star Wars Characters Introduced in 2024

Star Wars launched several new shows in 2024, and these characters are the best new additions of the year. Among the 2024 Star Wars releases were Star Wars: The Bad Batch season 3, Star Wars: Tales of the Empire, The Acolyte, LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxyand Star Wars: Skeleton Crew. Although many characters on shows like The bad lot and Tales of the Empire had appeared in Star Wars In films and TV shows, several characters were new.

This was especially true for The Acolyteset in a time of Star Wars timeline that had not yet been shown on screen and therefore required a number of new characters, and Skeleton Crewwhich focuses on a group of children lost in the galaxy. Although there was reaction The Acolyte and 2024 was a somewhat turbulent year for the franchise, many of these characters were truly brilliant. Of all Star Wars characters introduced in 2024, these represent the best.

Kelnacca

The first live-action Wookiee Jedi Master was a truly exciting concept

When the trailer for The Acolyte was first released, there was significant excitement about Jedi Master Kelnacca being the first live-action Wookiee Jedi in Star Wars. This was an important moment for Star Wars mainly because George Lucas himself had previously said that Wookiees could not be Jedi. Star Wars had already undone this rule with characters like Gungi, the Wookiee Padawan in Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

However, this was a significant change for the franchise and promised something new and exciting. Unfortunately, there was very little Kelnacca in action. He died off-screen, killed by Qimir on the planet Khofar before he had the opportunity to demonstrate his full strength. However, when The Acolyte finally revealed what really happened in Brendok, viewers got to see how formidable he could be. While it's a shame that Kelnacca didn't get more screen time, he was an excellent addition to Star Wars.

Mother

Mae's Story Started Strong

Initially positioned as the 'evil' twin between Osha and Mae, Mae's story in The Acolyte turned out to be much more than it seemed at first glance. In the first two episodes of The Acolyteit seemed confirmed that Mae had killed Osha and Mae's family and nearly killed Osha in the process, and her attacks on the Jedi seemed to solidify that characterization. However, it was quite clear from the moment the Brendok Witches died that Mae was not as guilty as Osha and Master Sol claimed.

In the end, it was revealed that Mae had not attacked the witches, but rather tragically watched her mother die at the hands of Master Sol and was then framed. In addition to this complex arc, which made her quite compelling, Mae has proven herself to be a powerful and capable fighter. Unfortunately, her arc ended on a somewhat confusing note, with her willing to have her memory erased and turn herself over to the Jedi. Presumably season two would have provided insight into his path forward, but with The Acolyte cancellation, this is unlikely to happen.

11

Wim

Wim's love for the Jedi is genuinely charming

Originally, it looked like Wim would be the main character of Skeleton Crewand the first two episodes of the new Star Wars show seemed to confirm this. However, more recent episodes of Skeleton Crew I saw Wim more from the side, with characters like Fern and Jod Na Nawood becoming the focus. Even so, Wim is truly adorable Star Wars characterespecially because of his adorable adoration of the Jedi.

Wim brought Star Wars spectators the children's precious moment inside the Star Wars galaxy by pretending to fight with lightsabers, just like kids do in real life, on screen for the first time. His interest in adventure and space is also captivating. While Wim didn't prove to be the focal point as he originally appeared to be, he was nevertheless a great addition to Star Wars.

10

K.B.

There's something very intriguing about this Skeleton Crew character

KB is another one of the children featured in Skeleton Crewand although she was easily the quietest of the four children, which makes her the hardest to read, it's clear that there is something very interesting going on with this character. Right now, KB almost looks more like a companion to Fern, which was directly portrayed when she rode in the sidecar of Fern's speeder. Still, with Skeleton Crew currently only halfway through, it seems likely that there is more to come in the KB story.

The most interesting aspect of her character so far has been KB's parents' fears about her being lost in space because she has an unknown “medical condition.” Many have theorized that this could be a Force sensitivity that, on your strange planet of Attin, could be seen as an illness. If this is true, KB will become a much more exciting character in Skeleton Crew.

9

Master Sun

Sol was a great character, even if he was wrong in the end

Mestre Sol was perhaps the most shocking aspect of The Acolyteas he initially seemed like a kind, compassionate and dedicated Jedi. Throughout The AcolyteSol was revealed to be largely responsible for the fate of Osha, Mae and the Witches of Brendok. Worse, he clearly and intentionally framed Mae for everything she had done in Brendok and allowed Osha to believe her sister had tried to kill her, all to keep her name clear.

Although he was obviously quite flawed, Sol was still a great character.A. He proved to be excellent with a lightsaber, and his duels with Qimir in particular were some of the best not only in The Acolyte but also in all Star Wars. Your story would also have ended if The Acolyte was renewed or not, so her arc felt complete and satisfying (which wasn't true for many other Acolyte characters), even if it revealed that Sol was far from perfect.

8

Master Indara

It was revealed that Indara had more genuine intentions than initially appeared

Carrie-Anne Moss's appearance as Jedi Master Indara in The Acolyte was highly anticipated, especially since Moss's other roles, such as Trinity in The Matrixsuggested that she was perfectly suited to Star Wars. This made it very disappointing when she died in the first scene of the show, but thankfully it wasn't Indara's last in The Acolyte. She returned in both episodes that revealed more about what happened in Brendok, and interestingly, her character's portrayal changed drastically between those two episodes.

Carrie-Anne Moss's appearance as Jedi Master Indara in The Acolyte it was highly anticipated.

At first, it seemed that Indara was a little cold and perhaps even antagonistic towards the Witches of Brendok, but The Acolyte finally revealed that Indara actually wanted to leave the Witches of Brendok alone. In fact, it was Master Sol who believed that the Witches of Brendok had evil intentions and wanted to take Osha and Mae away from them. Indara was actually a much better representation of how the Jedi should interact with the greater galaxy.. (Of course, this got a lot more complicated when she killed the Witches of Brendok, but it felt accidental.)

7

Yord Fandar

The 'Yord Horde' Loved Yord for a Reason

Yord Fandar immediately became popular among Star Wars audience, so much so that fans quickly began referring to themselves as 'the Yord Horde'. This was probably due in large part to the charm of actor Charlie Barnett in The Acolytealthough Yord was also a great character in his own right. Although he often seemed a little silly compared to the seriousness of Jedi Padawan Jecki Lon, Yord was clearly optimistic and truly believed in the way of the Jedi.

Fans quickly began referring to themselves as 'the Yord Horde'.

Yord also proved he was a truly brave Jedi in The Acolyte episode 5. Even after watching Qimir/the Stranger take down several Jedi, and having no frame of reference for fighting a powerful dark side Force user, let alone a Sith, he fought Qimir bravely. Unfortunately, it cost him his life, but Yord certainly deserves the love he received from Star Wars spectators.

6

Jecki Lon

Jecki was an amazing character who didn't have enough time

Jecki Lon was easily one of the best characters in The Acolyte. Despite still being a Padawan, Jecki was one of the most impressive duelists on the show, and it was Jecki who finally unmasked Qimir. In the same episode where Yord died, Jecki came face to face with Qimir and looked impressive. It was only because of Qimir's lightsaber design, which hid a dagger blade within the standard blade, that he was able to stab Jecki, killing her.

Jecki Lon was easily one of the best characters in The Acolyte.

It was also clear that Jecki defended the Jedi mentality. Instead of fearing death – something that even some Star Wars the most powerful Jedi ever fought at times – Jecki commented on how beautiful it was for someone to become one with the Force. It was really sad that she died as a Padawan and didn't become the incredibly powerful Jedi she was on her way to being.

5

Fern

Fern's bravery and attitude made her a success on the Skeleton Crew

Fern surprisingly proved to be the leader of the four children in Skeleton Crewinstead of Wim, as many expected, and this started in the first episode of the show. When Wim discovers what he believes to be a hidden Jedi Temple, he, Neel, KB and Fern go to check it out. Fern tricks Neel and Wim into clearing the weeds from the mysterious door, establishing herself as quite witty.

This characterization continued when the children encountered SM-33, a pirate droid on the ship they found. Fern convinces the droid that she is the new captain, causing SM-33 to follow her orders. Many viewers have pointed out that Fern is seemingly a replacement for Leia, in terms of her in-control attitude, sass, and intelligence. As Skeleton Crew releases its final episodes, it will be interesting to see what happens to Fern, especially with Jod Na Nawood now playing such an important role in their destinies.

4

Osha

Osha's transformation was exciting to watch

Osha was the protagonist of The Acolyteand his story was one of the most compelling in the series. As Mae's opposite, Osha was seen as the 'good' twin, although this really only (at first) meant that she wanted to become a Jedi, while Mae wanted to stay with the Witches of Brendok. It became much more complicated from there, however.

Ultimately, Osha was unable to forgive Mae for the things she was accused of doing, particularly for killing her family. This anger and inability to let go led to Osha being expelled from the Jedi Order. Even after this dismissal, Osha clearly desired to rejoin the Jedi and never recovered from her removal from the Order. These complex feelings, along with discovering the truth about everything that happened in Brendok, led Osha to fully explore her anger and hatred, turning her to the dark side.

This not only meant that in The Acolyte In the end, Osha was emotional at Qimir's side, ready to train with him, but also, Osha's turn to the dark side sparked the first time a Kyber crystal bled onto the screen in Star Wars. This was a genuinely impressive moment, as the lightsaber turned from blue to red in Osha's hand, signaling her transformation. It is genuinely devastating that Osha's story will probably never come back to the Star Wars screen, as it would have been fascinating to see what was next for her.

3

Jod Na Nawood

Star Wars' new “Jedi” undoubtedly has more mysteries up his sleeve

Jod Na Nawood is easily one of Star Wars more exciting characters introduced in 2024. Jude Law has long been cagey about his character's true nature, referencing the fact that he has many names and refusing to confirm more about him. Star Wars had already given several hints that Nawood was a Jedi, but many episodes in Skeleton Crew, It seems obvious that Jod Na Nawood isn't a Jedi after all.

What/who he really is probably hasn't been revealed yet, and may not be until the end. Yes, he also goes by Crimson Jack, but he still carries an air of mystery that probably means there are more secrets to come. Aside from the mystery of his character, Jod Na Nawood has also become the latest addition to the Star Wars long list of father figures, making him even more popular among Star Wars audiences.

It still carries an air of mystery, which probably means there are more secrets to come.

2

Qimir

Qimir was the clear star of the acolyte

The only best new Star Wars character in The Acolyte It was Qimir/the Stranger. Although The Acolyte faced significant backlash and criticism, Qimir was almost universally celebrated. Not only was he a new Sith in the franchise, but he also proved to be the latest Star Wars heartthrob, joining the ranks of Din Djarin, Kylo Ren and Anakin Skywalker, among others. As with Osha's story, Qimir's Star Wars The story being cut short was a huge disappointment as it had so much potential.

from Qimir Star Wars the story being cut short was a huge disappointment as it had so much potential.

Hopefully more news on this topic is coming. Star Wars Celebration 2025 is coming in April and, interestingly, Qimir actor Manny Jacinto is on the list of celebrity guests. This could simply be an appearance from one of the Star Wars new actors or, in a dream scenario, it could mean a big announcement is coming, like a Qimir spin-off show. While this is entirely speculative, hopefully Qimir/the Stranger will return soon.

1

Neel

Neel is Star Wars' newest adorable character

The best news Star Wars 2024 character has to go to Neel's Skeleton Crew. Neel joined the ranks of Grogu and Porgs on the most adorable list Star Wars characters. Not only is Neel incredibly cute, but he has also proven himself to be one of the most compassionate and brave Star Wars characters from recent memory. In Skeleton Crew in episode 4, for example, Neel put himself in danger with SM-33 to protect his friends. He really is head and shoulders above the rest Star Wars 2024 additions.

There have been a number of exciting additions Star Wars this year, both in terms of new and returning shows and all-new characters. With Star Wars Celebration returning in 2025, there are sure to be even more new characters, shows, and films coming to the franchise. For 2024, however, these characters represent the best new features in Star Wars.
