1000 Pound Sisters star Amy Slaton is revealing a shocking fact about your children after introducing fans to his furry tarantula. Amy has been on a weight loss journey with her older sister, Tammy Slaton, since the first season of the show. Amy weighed over 400 pounds in the first episode and wanted to get healthier so she could have a baby. Amy's wish came true after she had bariatric surgery in 2019 and has since lost more than 75 pounds. Amy gave birth to two sons, Gage and Glenn, with her now ex-husband Michael Halterman.
Amy has been a single mother since her divorce from Michael and it has been a difficult journey. His parenting skills have been criticized, especially after his recent arrest.
In a new clip from the upcoming 1000 Pound Sisters episode shared by NewsAmy is on a haunted tour of London with her brothers. When the guide asks if they are interested in the supernatural, “things that go wrong” at night, Amy enthusiastically reveals that she named her children after horror characters. The guide assures Amy that she is in the right place. When naming her children, Amy was inspired by some famously possessed children in horror books and films. Gabe was taken from Pet Sematary and Glenn from Chucky Seed.
What Amy Slaton's secret about children's names means
Amy took her horror obsession too far
Gabe was named after Gage William Creed, the child killer in Stephen King's 1983 novel Pet Cemetery. Gage is possessed by a Wendigo after being accidentally killed by a speeding truck and buried in a cemetery. Meanwhile, Glen also has an interesting story to his name. Amy apparently thought of Chucky and Tiffany's son, who is named Glen, from the Child's Play franchise. Chucky names the child Glen, while Tiffany gives the child the name Glenda after seeing that Glen has no genitals. Glen/Glenda is gender fluid and a ventriloquist's dummy that possesses the souls of two people.
Amy has always been interested in all things scary. Amy doesn't need to prove how big a horror fan she is. She still has a The Nightmare Before Christmas protagonist, Jack Skellington, tattooed on his arm. Just like Amy, her ex Michael is also a horror fan. Pet Cemetery it was their favorite horror story and the main antagonist therefore became his inspiration. In addition to Chucky's son being named Glen, Undead the character Glenn Rhee, played by Steven Yeun, may also be an inspiration that Amy used when naming her second son.
Speaking of macabre, even Amy's pets look like they're straight out of a spooky novel. In June 2024, Amy shocked her social media followers by introducing them to her newest family member, a furry tarantula spider. Amy posted a photo of her creepy-crawly friend on TikTok. She used to have a dog named Little Bit, who passed away in 1000 Pound Sisters season 4. Amy chose to name his pet Fang tarantula. While it suits the spider, it's certainly no more sinister than the fact that it chose to name its own flesh and blood.
Amy was arrested in September 2024 alongside a man named Brian Scott Lovvorn of the Tennessee Safari Park on drug and child abuse charges. Amy was with her children at the time and strange odors were coming from her vehicle. Amy's role as a mother has been questioned since her divorce and impressive weight loss. She was in and out of several relationships, leaving her heartbroken when she should have taken a break from dating and chosen to focus on her children. Amy giving them such terrible names suggests that she was always immature to be a mother.
Our Take on Amy Slaton Naming Her Kids After Horror Characters
Amy's kids are named after characters with some disturbing backstories
Although Amy wanted to pay homage to her favorite horror characters by naming her children after them, she should have also thought about the characters' backstories and the effect they would have on children after they grew up. UndeadGlenn, for example, dies a painful death when his head is crushed by “Lucille“, a baseball bat wrapped in barbed wire. Glen/Glenda has a toxic relationship with his parents, while Gage kills his mother after being resurrected. 1000 Pound Sisters the star could have chosen some less disturbing characters.
Amy didn't know what she was getting into when she wanted to have children. Her children would grow up thinking she hated them because of the name she gave them. 1000 Pound Sisters fans have repeatedly expressed concern for Amy's children. They rooted for Amy, but they also saw her do things like smoke while holding a young child. Being a mother is a difficult task, and Amy proves that it hasn't been a cakewalk for her either. After all, Amy herself sometimes acts like a child.
