The students took the viral fad of “desking“, a game played in empty classrooms during recess where students film each other jumping from one desk to another. For an underfunded public school like Abbott, this trend is a brutal injury waiting to happen. However, the teachers are powerless to stop the students. From indulging in viral stunts to online views, even as they lock up all the desks in the gym at recess, they realize they’ve inadvertently created a desker’s paradise.
Fortunately, Jacob comes to help. The sight of the hilariously nerdy Jacob jumping from desk to desk instantly kills the trend.Because none of the students want to be caught dead doing something Mr. Hill thinks is cool. From the bruising physical comedy of the teachers trying and failing to “Desk” To the revelation of the students’ reaction to Jacob’s stunt, the climax of “Desking” is a masterclass in comedy. Season 2, Episode 8, “Egg Drop”
Some of the strongest scenes in Abbott Elementarys story, like the revelation of Barbara’s struggle with celebrity names, come from sequences where the staff simply hang out and shoot the breeze. It’s never funnier than when some topic divides them and a conversation between co-workers inevitably gets heated, as seen when the teachers admit their weed of choice in season 3, episode 4, “Smoking.” This scene almost earned a spot on the list only for the shocking revelation that Janine is a daily marijuana user, but the best scene from Season 2, Episode 8, “Egg Drop,” beat it.

Last year’s debacle with Jazmin Sullivan is still fresh in their minds, and Ava’s claims grow gradually more ridiculous as the episode progresses. This ridiculous subversion of expectations is one of Abbott ElementaryThe silliest scene, however, in an otherwise emotionally charged episode, is a perfectly judged gag.
