Thunder Spear: This attack deals 40 damage to 1 of your opponent's Pokémon. |
This card stands out, especially when compared to its Genetic Apex variant, a card that is rarely used in competitive decks. Those who used Genetic Apex Electabuzz will be familiar with its risky attack. It will damage itself in the hands of a coin toss, making it a risky option for a 40 damage out attack. However, with the launch of Mythical Island Electabuzz, players will have a new Lightning-type card to include in their former Pikachu decks.

Pidgeotto has improved damage output
Makes the Pidgeot Evolution line more effective
The Pidgeot line of evolution is commonly used in Pokémon TCG Pocketbut the new expansion has given players another direction to go with these cards. All three Pokémon – Pidgey, Pidgeotto, and Pidgeot – receive new cards, with Pidgeot featuring an exciting former variant. But the real highlight is Pidgeotto that sees an important improvement in relation to its Genetic Apex version. This update may be small, but crucial for players who rely on this evolution line.

Wing attack: 50 damage |
Pidgeotto's new Wing Attack deals an increase of 50 damageensuring that the player can deal effective damage while evolving this Pokémon. This is better than the Genetic Apex Gust version, which only deals 30 damage. The only downside is that Wing Attack costs three energy, giving it a longer setup. Although, since Pidgeot and Pidgeot ex need two and three energy to charge their attacks, it's worth the time.

Salandit has become much easier to use and is more worth it
Cheap and effective when used in the right decks
Salandit is a basic Fire-type Pokémon, rarely found in competitive decks. Although with the Mythical Island release, this reptile-like Pokémon could come into a former Charizard deck with a more effective attack. THE Genetic Apex Salandit and Salazzle are useless in decks, having low damage and low HP attacks. However, the Mythical Island version of these cards are cheaper and more effective. This is particularly useful for players who need a low-energy Pokémon to hold off battle for stronger Fire-type cards.

Salandit has stood out for its versatility. For just one Colorless Energy, this Pokémon can use Venoshockwhich deals 10 damage and an additional 40 damage when the opponent's Active Pokémon is poisoned. This can be extremely useful in decks with Weezing, coming in and dealing significant damage on later turns.

Rapidash is a risky but powerful fire-type card
Gives brave players another option in aggressive Fire-type decks
Rapidash is commonly used in Charizard ex and Blaine decks, creating low-cost problems for the opposition. However, players will have a hard time choosing which Rapidash to use in battles from now on, as the Genetic Apex and Mythical Island the versions are both strong. Both have a solid 100 HP and are both simple Stage One evolutions, but the attacks are different, with different energy costs. Each of these cards is valuable in its own way, making the choice dependent on the player's tactical style.

THE Mythical Island Rapidash has a new attack called Rising Lunge, costing two energy – a Fire Energy and a Colorless Energy. This deals 40 damage, as well as giving the player a chance to flip a coin. If heads, this attack deals 60 more damage for a total of 100. This is potentially riskier than the Genetic Apex version, but the damage done is worth it. This is particularly true when considering the fact that previously players could only use Fire Mane to deal 40 damage.

Golem is a new powerhouse that can revitalize Fighting-type decks
A huge improvement over its genetic Apex version
Golem is a card often forgotten by players in Pokémon TCG Pocket. While this neglect has now been vindicated, it is time for its story to change. THE Genetic Apex version of this Fighting-type card has an attack that costs four energy, just to deals 150 damage and another 50 damage to self. It's hard to find a reason to use this, as the high energy costs and self-inflicted pain outweigh any kind of positive. However, the new Mythical Island version is a breath of fresh air.

Now, Golem can use Guard Press, which deals 120 strong damage and causes Golem to take 30 less damage from attacks during the opponent's next turn. This can undermine the opponent's strategy and give the player an advantage. This might give players a reason to use Brock's overlooked Supporter card.

Exeggcute will drive your evolution even stronger
Pairs perfectly with Exeggutor from Mythical Island
When players first encounter the Mythical Island Exeggcute Card, they may be more attracted to the Genetic Apex version for its more effective damage potential. That being said, when this card is properly inspected, it is much stronger. Exeggcute can use the growth spurtwhich allows the player to take a Grass Energy from their Energy Zone and attach it to this Pokémon. This is useless if the card evolves into Exeggutor ex, but is intended to partner with Mythical Island Exeggutor.

Together, these cards make for an incredibly fast and aggressive tactic. This Exeggutor card has a four-energy attack called Psychic which deals 80 damage plus 20 damage for each Energy attached to the opponent's Active Pokémon. Due to this fact, Exeggcute's energy production ability is incredibly useful, enhancing the arguably overpowered attack.

Weezing could make a good partnership with its Apex genetic version
Effective on control platforms
Both the Genetic Apex and Mythical Island Weezing cards have their own advantages as some of them TCG PocketThey are the best Darkness-type cards, and there are reasons to use both side by side in a deck. As both cards, along with their pre-evolution Koffing, feature unique attacks and abilities, Each of them can be used strategically to control the battle. They can work side by side in a Darkness deck, providing the player with a poison-based advantage along with new, more consistent attacks that deal damage.

Smoke screen: 50 damage + During your opponent's next turn, if the Defending Pokémon attempts to use an attack, your opponent flips a coin. If it comes up tails, this attack does not happen. |
THE Mythical Island Weezing uses his attack, Smokescreen, to deal 50 damage – 20 more than the Genetic Apex version. Additionally, it has a special ability: during your opponent's next turn, if the Defending Pokémon tries to use an attack, your opponent will flip a coin. If it comes up tails, this attack does not happen. This can be extremely useful in control decks, disrupting an opponent's carefully planned strategy. However, players will need to be careful as this depends on RNG.

Ponyta is an interesting option for Fire Deck users
Replace the Genetic Apex version in all competitive Fire Decks
The new Mythical Island Ponyta is a huge upgrade from its Genetic Apex version, with an attack that may be more effective for competitive battles. Besides the fact the new art is beautifully stunningThis card has an attack that makes it more valuable than its other version. This card can use Stomp, an attack that deals 10 damage. Mythical Island Ponyta should be used in Charizard ex and Blaine decksinstead of the less impressive Genetic Apex version. Players will have the potential to deal 40 damage with their first energy, which can be extremely useful. This advantage is further amplified by its ability to evolve into Rapidash, making it a superior choice over other basic cards like Farfetch'd.
2
Raichu now has a more consistent version
Very effective when partnered with Lieutenant Surge
Raichu has won over fans since the release of Pokémon TCG Pocket with its strong attack that serves as a formidable finishing move. However, with Mythical Island, players have a more reliable and consistent Raichu to use. This card has an attack called Gigashock, which deals 60 damage. This also deals 20 damage to each of the opponent's Benched Pokémon. This costs three Lightning-type energy, which can be easily accumulated by teaming up with Lieutenant Surge.

Mythical Island Raichu is the best option for players who prefer to deal constant damage during battle. THE Genetic Apex version can deal more damage with Thunderbolt, but the fact that it discards all of its energy means it's a one-turn move. While, the Mythical Island version can spread your damage output and cause more problems for the opponent.

Mythical Island Eevee is far superior to its Apex genetic versions
Incredible damage as long as RNG is on your side
The new Mythical Island The Eevee card is far superior to the previous one Genetic Apex version. With Continuous Steps, players can flip coins until they get tails. For each head, this attack will do 20 damage. This means that Eevee can deal an incredible amount of damage depending on whether the player is lucky with RNG. It should also be noted that all of this is for Colorless Energy only.

THE Genetic Apex version of this card only deals 20 damage, making it dramatically inferior and less useful. Players looking to use Eeveelutions should look into the new Mythical Island version, as its damage can be useful in early battle situations. This is a must-have card for players in Pokémon TCG Pocket.
