The 10 Best Anime Moms in Anime History, Ranked

Mothers in anime can be a guiding force for their children. They can support them through difficult times and give them the courage they need to move forward. It doesn't matter whether an anime mother is a biological mother or just someone who is trying hard to raise a child, she can play a crucial role in her children's lives.

Good anime moms come in all shapes and sizes. Some are hard on their children, making sure they stay in line and do the right thing. Others are there to remind their working children to relax and enjoy life as they live it. Having a good role model is essential for everyone. Every child needs someone to look up to, and some anime moms, like Bellmere from One piece or Kushina Uzumaki of Naruto: Shippuudenfill that role perfectly.

Bellemere - One Piece

Nami and Nojiko's mother did her best before Arlong arrived

Nami and Nojiko didn't have the most traditional upbringing. They were raised in the village of Cocoyasi for 9 years by their adoptive mother and former Marine, Bellemere. Bellemere was about to die when she saw two-year-old Nojiko holding a child Nami in her arms. Nami's childish ignorance of the brutality around her makes her smile, giving Bellemere a reason to keep living. She did her best to raise her children despite her lack of experience. Nami was also not an easy child to raise, as she constantly brought up the fact that she, Nojiko, and Bellemere were not actually related.

Bellemere lost her life protecting Nami and Nojiko. Arlong threatened to kill anyone who could not pay his fees. Bellemere, like the good mother she is, paid Nami and Nojiko's fees for them, giving his life so that his daughters could live.

Natsuki Naoko Re:Zero – Starting life in another world

Briefly shown, Naoko is still a great mother

Re Zero Subaru's mother and father, Naoko and Kenichi in a flashback/dream state

Natsuki Subaru's story begins when he is transported to his new world in Re:Zero – Starting life in another world. Although the series only shows brief glimpses of his former life, Subaru had an exceptional family. His mother and father were incredibly supportive and didn't even bother him about being a NEET. His mother, Naoko, is especially sweet to her son. She doesn't know exactly what's wrong, but she notices that something is bothering Subaru. Instead of scolding him, she encourages him to do his best and try to go back to school.

She's exactly the anime mother every character needs. While Subaru is going through a difficult time, she protects him, which makes his situation even more painful. While Subaru tries to figure out how to survive in his new world, his parents miss him in his old world.

Frieren - Frieren: beyond the journey's end

Frieren never wanted to be a mother and is still crushing it

Frieren is a surprisingly good mother. For someone who has spent hundreds, if not thousands, of years alone, she raised Fern as her own. When Heiter asked Frieren to take Fern as his apprentice, Frieren was a little nervous. Over time, however, the two became almost inseparable. Fern can count on Frieren when she needs her most. Frieren's stoic personality makes her one of the best kuudere characters in anime and someone you can always trust no matter how bad the situation gets.

It's not one-sided, as Frieren also depends on Fern. Without Fern, Frieren would probably only get out of bed in the afternoon and probably wouldn't have any money to spend either. Together, they make one of the most adorable and deadly mother-daughter pairs in anime.

Kushina Uzimaki - Naruto: Shippuuden

Kushina sacrificed herself to give Naruto a future

Naruto's parents weren't around when he was a child, but not willingly. Both his father, the fourth Hokage Minato Namikaze, and his mother, Kushina Uzumaki, They sacrificed their lives so that he could live. They had to seal the nine-tailed beast inside him to do this, but at least Naruto got to see another day. When Naruto gets the chance to meet his mother through chakra, it's one of the most touching moments in the series. Recognizing her as his mother, he jumps towards Kushina and gives her a much-deserved hug.

She is a great mother in the few moments she spends with her son. She tells Naruto about how she met his father and how they fell in love. She also tells him about her birthday, the night the Nine-Tails killed them both. Most of Naruto's story revolves around his loneliness, making this moment one of the most emotionally cathartic in the series.

Single mother of two boys, Trisha did a great job

Trisha Elric smiles

Trisha Elric was busy with her two sons, Alphonse and Edward. Her children's father, Van Hohenheim, left her and her family when the children were still young. Although she spent a lot of time waiting for Van to come home, she was focused on her children. She tried to give them everything they needed as children and didn't do a bad job. She died very early in the series and in her children's lives when she passed away due to an outbreak.

Both Alphonse and Edward loved their mother so much that they broke the final rule and tried to bring her back from the dead. It cost Edward some of his body and all of Al's. Although she probably shouldn't have had children with an immortal alchemist who was afraid of commitment, she did the best a single mother could.

Myth advanced when no one else did

Hunter x Hunter Mito Freeccs worrying about Gon

He is full of energy, rambunctious and is one of the toughest kids on the island. He is constantly up to new mischief and performing supernatural feats of strength, two activities that will certainly turn Mito's hair gray sooner.

When Gon is given the opportunity to discover his biological mother's identity, he chooses not to. He doesn't understand the meaning. Mito is the mother he has had all his life and he sees no point in changing that, pointing to his love and dedication towards Gon.

3

Chi-Chi - Dragon Ball

Chi-Chi is one of the most badass mothers in anime, and she has to be. Her husband and children are the first line of defense against some of the most dangerous villains in the universe. As a mother, she is doing her best to provide structure to her children's lives. She is Gohan's biggest advocate for education and does what she can to ensure he doesn't become a fighter like his father. She is also one of the few people in Dragon ball who can tell Goku what to do, an impressive feat in itself.

She is in a difficult situation as a mother. On the one hand, maybe she shouldn't let her teenage son fight Cell, a monster capable of destroying the Earth. On the other hand, if she doesn't let Gohan fight, Cell could also destroy the Earth. Chi-Chi does her best for a mother stuck between a rock and a hard place (Super Saiyan).

2

Unfortunately for herhe was given one of the most powerful quirks of all time, One For All, sending him straight to the front lines of every battle. It's the last thing a mother could want for her child.

Inko's frustration and anger with All Might for putting her son in such a dangerous position is incredibly healthy and reaffirms her position as a good mother.
