Tell Me Lies Season 2 Has a Big Lucy Twist That Could Get the Showrunner Canceled

Hulu’s Tell me read Has a big twist that could get the showrunner canceled. The television adaptation of Carola Lovering’s 2018 novel of the same name initially premieres on Hulu in late 2022. The show, just like the source material, follows the tumultuous relationship between the main characters, Lucy and Stephen, over an 8-year period. Season 1 managed strong viewership numbers, and it also garnered a dedicated audience, leading Hulu to renew Tell me read Season 2.

Now, after the release of the first two episodes of Tell me read Season 2 showrunner Megan Oppenheimer reveals to The Hollywood Reporter That Episode 7 of the new season has a huge twist that she predicts will cause a lot of controversy. She went on to reveal that the idea immediately split the writers’ room in two after pitching, but they ultimately decided to include it in the show. Read her full comments below:

There is a twist in episode seven, a decision Lucy makes. But I think if I get canceled, it will be because of this. It’s something she does trying to help Pippa and it backfires. And there was a moment when I entered the room and I put it on, and it immediately divided the writing room in two. There were people who were like, “We have to do this, this is great.” And then half the room was like, “We absolutely can’t do this.” And so I was like: “This conversation is why we have to do it, because it’s so polarizing.”

Tell Me Lies has largely thrived on twists and turns since its inception

Season 2 can build off of the shocking storylines already set up

After the release of Tell me read Season 1, the show was met with somewhat mixed reception from critics and audiences. While some praised the coming-of-age thriller for its slick writing and fluid dialogue, some were more critical of the show, describing it as trashy and soapy. Affair that lacks depth. Either way, the show continues to gather a growing audience and one of its main draws is its unpredictability.

Although the show includes some genre tropes that are common in similar romance dramas, it still manages to maintain enough intrigue and shocking moments to keep the audience guessing and on the edge of their seats. For example, the Tell me read Season 1 ending had a big final surprise that many wouldn’t have seen coming. It was revealed Stephen is engaged to Lucy’s best friend from home, Lydia, leaving many viewers confused and anticipating the new season.

Similarly to Megan Oppenheimer, executive producer Emma Roberts also promised that Tell me read Season 2 will include twists and surprises that no one will see coming around Pippa. With season 2 already underway, and the remaining episodes slated for release every week until October 16, 2024, viewers of this coming-of-age thriller won’t have to wait much longer to see how Lucy and Steven’s relationship unfolds and what twists and Turns out the new season is in store.
