Almost a year has passed since the show’s record-breaking debut, Giogria Whigham has shared a new behind-the-scenes video from Ted season 2. Created and led by Seth MacFarlane in the lead role, the Peacock comedy serves as a prequel to MacFarlane’s film franchise of the same name, exploring the teenage years of Ted the Talking Bear and John Bennett, as well as their dysfunctional family lives . . Also starring Max Burkholder, Scott Grimes, Alanna Ubach and Whigham in TedFrom the cast, season 1 became the highest-rated episode of the franchise, with its strong ratings also yielding a renewal for season 2.
About five months after the cast reunited for the first reading of the new season, Giorgia Whigham took to her TikTok to reveal a new BTS video for Ted season 2. The post, with a brief caption that reads “The Bennetts [heart hand emoji]“, shows the star placing her phone on a lazy Susan and rotating it 180 degrees to show the main cast of characters together at the breakfast table. The video also features the titular talking teddy bear’s replacement stuffed animal, with his puppeteers nearby. Check out the BTS video below:
What This Means for Ted Season 2
Filming may be about to end
While Whigham’s update marks the first concrete information revealed about the new season, reports from August indicated that Ted season 2 was scheduled to begin filming in early September and end in mid-December. Given that the BTS video does not indicate how far along the team is in production, no definitive timeline can be determined for filming the season. That said, with Grimes also indicating that table readings would take place in June, it seems likely that filming would have begun on the reported date of September, if not earlier, making a December wrap-up viable.
If the program has a filming end date, the question then is when Ted season two could be released on Peacock. If you look at season 1, there was a turnaround time of 14 months between the end of filming and the premiere on the streaming platform. Considering that Season 2 was reportedly almost canceled due to price hikes and extensive post-production process for the live-action/CGI hybrid show, it seems likely that the wait will be very similar, potentially placing it within a release window in January or February 2026. .
Our Take on Ted Season 2 Filming and Release Chances
A faster turnaround could be bad for the show
While on the one hand, a two-year gap is pretty standard for most streaming shows these days, Ted season two shouldn’t aim to break that trend by rushing the post-production process. As was evident from the muted critical response to Ted 2which had a three-year gap since its first film, and the strong reception of Season 1, which came 9 years after the 2015 sequel, patience is a virtue in MacFarlane’s franchise, and I’m very willing to wait if it means the Season 2 reaches the same joyful heights as its predecessor.
