Taylor Sheridan’s Role in Lioness Season 2 Explained

Although Taylor Sheridan’s contribution to Lioness cannot be understated, as he is the creator, executive producer, showrunner, writer and director of the series, Sheridan’s role somehow gets even bigger in the second season. The spy thriller TV show is one of many that Sheridan has created for Paramount over the past eight years, following in the footsteps of yellow stonemayor of Kingstown, and much more. Like most of his series, Lioness was a huge success for the filmmaker, and that may be why Sheridan immersed himself fully in the production of Season 2.

The cast of Lioness includes Zoe Saldaña as Joe, Laysla De Oliveira as Cruz, Dave Annable as Neal, Nicole Kidman as Kaitlyn, Morgan Freeman as Mullins, Genesis Rodriguez as Josephina Carrillo and many more. With a lineup that includes Saldaña, Kidman and Freeman, it’s easy to see why the series has been a success. However, one more name joins the list of cast members in Lioness Season 2 – Taylor Sheridan.

The creator stars in the first two episodes of Lioness season 2

Taylor Sheridan plays Cody Spears in Lioness 2nd season, episodes 1 and 2. Cody is part of the group (which includes Zoe Saldaña’s Joe and Thad Luckinbill’s Kyle) that crosses the border into Mexico to rescue Congresswoman Hernandez. At the beginning of Lioness In the Season 2 premiere, the Los Tigres Cartel broke into Congresswoman Hernandez’s home, killed her family, and kidnapped her.

Cody, Joe, Kyle and the other men manage to find Congresswoman Hernandez and bring her back to the United States. However, one of the soldiers, Dean, dies when Cody drives the car into the river (Rio Grande) that separates the two countries. Sheridan’s character appears again in Season 2, Episode 2 from the Paramount+ TV show Lionessbut only briefly. Cody tags along as some of his men join Joe’s QRF (Quick Reaction Force) team in “I Love My Country”. However, he soon leaves because he has another mission.

Will Taylor Sheridan return in Lioness season 2?

Following both parties Lioness season 2 premiere, It’s unclear whether Sheridan will reprise his role as Cody in future episodes. Sheridan has had a busy job as a writer and director, so Cody’s brief appearance in the first two episodes may be his only time on screen. Six episodes remain in Lioness Season 2, though, and Sheridan could easily return for a small cameo.

Taylor Sheridan’s role as Cody in Lioness season two isn’t the first time he’s appeared on one of his TV shows. Sheridan first joined the yellow stone cast in a nine-episode arc as Travis Wheatley, a Texas cowboy. He then played Charles Goodnight, a farmer, in the cast of yellow stone spin off 1883.

After his special appearance in 1883Sheridan did not appear in any of his other projects. Of course, until he portrayed Cody in Lioness season 2. Sheridan became one of many yellow stone actors in Lionessalongside Dave Annable, LaMonica Garrett, James Jordan, Austin Hébert and Stephanie Nur.
