Move, Supermanbecause Superwoman takes center stage in a variant cover so perfect it demands she be seen in a feature film. Lois Lane has only been Superwoman for a few weeks, but she’s already making waves and an upcoming variant proves why the DCU should consider giving Lois the same honor.
2025 is just around the corner and fans are getting a sneak peek at what DC Comics has in store for the new year thanks to its prompts for next February. The latest batch gave fans a sneak peek Superman #23which comes with a set of variant covers, including a phenomenal one by Nathan Szerdy.
Szerdy’s cover puts Lois Lane’s new alter ego, Superwoman, front and center, showing her floating gracefully through the skies in her new costume. Lois’ Superwoman outfit is shown in full detail, including the yellow accents on her waist and the Superman crests on their shoulders.
Lois Lane Never Looked Better Than As Superwoman
It’s a perfect look for the upcoming DCU adaptations
Although Lois often left superhero work to her husband, she found herself in a new dynamic with the Man of Steel in a post-Absolute power DC Universe. Weeks after Waller’s attack failed to control the world’s heroes, things have seemingly returned to normal. However, the Daily Planet’s newest editor-in-chief was keeping a secret from her staff: She was Metropolis’ newest hero, Superwoman, and somehow gained powers similar to Superman’s.from enhanced hearing to flight and super strength.
Monitoring Superwoman’s new powers is Mercy Graves of Supercorp, who analyzes Lois’ powers and makes sure she keeps them under control. But despite not being able to use the full range of Kryptonian powers like her husband, Lois has taken to her new role as Superman wonderfully. She has already helped Superman on several missions and can’t help but be proud of her new gifts. Even as Superman tries to keep Lois grounded, Superwoman is very excited about what she can do with her new powers.
Superwoman is a solid opportunity for DCU films
Imagine Rachel Brosnahan as Superwoman
DC’s newest cinematic universe is just getting started, but luckily, one of the first films in the DCU is a new Superman movie, featuring Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane. With a whole new universe at his fingertips, James Gunn could do anything, including making Lois gain powers. It wouldn’t be inaccurate for the comic book story, as Lois became Superwoman several times, including during Superman of the Starsa notable favorite of Gunn.
Of course, at the end of the day, Szerdy’s variant cover is just a beautiful piece of art that excellently captures this moment in Lois Lane’s life. But with a new cinematic future on the horizon, it would be nice to see something as incredible as this on the big screen. The new Superman the film will certainly have plenty of great moments, but the DCU could shine a little brighter with a Superwoman alongside the Man of Steel.
