Superman Is The Internet's New Obsession, And This Viral Peanut Makeover Proves Snoopy And Krypto Are Best Friends

The James Gunn trailer Superman was met with a wave of positive feedback, with fans praising everything from the film's overall aesthetic to the brief glimpses of other Justice League heroes. However, it's the humorous scene between the Man of Steel and his loyal companion, Krypto the Superdog, that really captured fans' hearts, sparking widespread discussion and a wave of fan art.

The trailer scene between Superman and Krypto shows a bloodied and bruised Man of Steel landing face-first in an Arctic snowpack, before letting out a high-pitched whistle. Moments later, a cloud of snow reveals his ever-loyal companion, Krypto, rushing to his rescue. Barely able to move, Superman lifts his cape and mutters to Krypto "to take [him] home."

Without hesitation, the super pet grabs the cape with its teeth and begins dragging the completely exhausted Man of Steel. This amusingly pitiful moment, where The world's most powerful hero is towed by his dog and has been reimagined with an epic Peanuts-inspired twist by Indonesian pop illustrator Gilang A. Jagini.

James Gunn's Superman and Krypto Scene Inspires Wholesome Fanart

Artist Gilang A. Jagini Gives Superman and Krypto a Peanut-Inspired Reimagining

Jagini reimagines the scene directed by James Gunn in the distinctive artistic style of Charles M. Schulzthe creator of Peanuts – the iconic comic strip featuring beloved characters like Charlie Brown, Snoopy and Woodstock. Schulz's artistic style is known for its simplicity, charm and expressiveness, with minimal lines, consistent details and characters with large heads. Jagini expertly adapts this style for Superman and Krypto, transforming Clark into a Peanuts-style character while retaining his signature Superman curl and Gunn Universe-specific costume. Meanwhile, Krypto adopts a similar build to Snoopy, but with scruffy white fur.

What really sets Jagini's work apart is how it not only recreates the scene from the trailer but also captures Snoopy's laid-back, human vibe and the humor inherent in Peanuts comics. In the trailer, Krypto is all energetic, enthusiastically grabbing Superman's cape and leaping through the snow to pull him to safety. Jagini, however, depicts Krypto walking upright, just as Snoopy often does, casually dragging Superman behind him in a relaxed, almost nonchalant manner. This nonchalant portrait perfectly channels Snoopy's trademark “I couldn’t care less” attitude, adding a layer of smart and nostalgic humor.

But wait, there's more! Krypto & Superman Fanart is taking the Internet by storm

Artist Karlos Kuan recreates a scene from James Gunn's Superman film

However, Jagini wasn't the only artist inspired by what is already quickly becoming an iconic scene from Gunn's film. Artist Karlos Kuan was also inspired by the scene and added a touch of Charles M. Schulz's artistic style to his own creation, depicting the same moment with the notable difference of aligning the energy and movement of his art more directly with the film. In Kuan's version, Krypto is shown leaping with Superman's cape firmly gripped between his teeth, energetically dragging the Man of Steel.

It's truly fantastic to see how a simple trailer has sparked so much creativity among fans, and there's no doubt that even more Superman and Crypto fan art will emerge in the near future.
