Superman and Lois created one of the most villainous versions of Lex Luthor ever seen in the DC Universe, and it’s a relief to see that another of the antagonist’s plans has already been destroyed by the good people of Smallville. With one of the most evil versions of Lex Luthor yet, Superman and Lois season 4 saw Luthor be responsible for some truly horrible things. This involved the death of Superman and the subsequent emotional torture of his family. Fortunately, not everything is working out for Lex.
Although Superman has many villains in his past, his best villain is Lex Luthor. Different versions of this enemy have appeared in various media, each putting their own twists on the character. Some of Superman’s most iconic villain quotes are said by the Man of Steel’s bitter rival, culminating in a character audiences love to hate. While a new version of the villain is just ahead in the DCU played by Nicholas Hoult, the public is finally seeing the Superman and Lois iteration suffers some significant losses.
Superman and Lois solve Lex’s plans to get the Smallville Gazette before they even begin
Lex’s Shell Corporation scheme was defeated
Lex Luthor has tried to destroy Superman at every turn in the series – however, one of his most recent plans was thwarted from the start. In Superman and Lois season 4, episode 7, Lex plotted to buy his way into the Smallville Gazette in an attempt to take over and destroy everything Clark and Lois love.. Fortunately, Chrissy Beppo, who Lex was trying to sell her shares of, investigated the situation and discovered that Lex was behind it. Hidden behind a shell company, Lex’s plans were identified and summarily stopped.
This was a relief to the public, although it came at a cost – first for Chrissy in the apparent disappointment of her dream, and then literally for Clark and Lois when they decided to buy out Beppo so that she could still buy a new house for her family. expanding. Likewise, although this scheme was stopped, that wasn’t the full extent of Lex’s machinations in the episode.
Superman and Lois still gives Lex Luthor a big win
Lex’s plan to reveal Superman’s identity still occurred
Ultimately, Lex’s plans even resulted in Superman sharing his identity with the entire world.although perhaps not in the way he initially expected. Luthor telling Candice’s father about Superman’s secret identity resulted in a dramatic confrontation between the two in the Smallville restaurant, which saw Superman reveal his identity to protect those around him. It looks like this could be a huge win for Lex Luthor. With Superman now unable to hide, the implications of Lex’s plan will certainly be shown soon.
Fortunately, Superman managed to turn this defeat into a moment of freedom for his character. The show’s latest episode examined the tragedies Clark had to endure in keeping his secret identity hidden, culminating in him revealing his identity to the world. Although Lex’s actions were done with malicious intent, there is significant good that could come from Clark’s identity being made public as well..
No matter how Lex’s plans come to fruition, the villain will certainly be defeated by the end of the series. The cost of this, however, remains to be seen. So far, there was incredible emotional labor resulting from Lex’s actions, and now Superman’s life has fundamentally changed. Seeing where this leads and the implications it has for Superman and Lois, will certainly be an important part of the series finale, leading Clark and his family to a better future.
