Superman and Lois could have had its current actor Jonathan Kent from the beginning.
Talking to Krypton website, Michael Bishop revealed he auditioned to play Jonathan Kent when Superman and Lois was casting the role for the first time, and the actor came close to getting it. Jordan Elsass was ultimately chosen to play Jonathan, with Bishop joining the DC series in season 3 after Elsass left for mental health reasons.

In 2019 or 2020, I auditioned for Jon, got straight to the point, and lost. I was heartbroken. I always thought “damn, I would have played a really good Jon Kent.” I really felt that, I really did, and I don’t normally feel that way about roles. If I lose them, I usually say “okay, well, you know, okay. It wasn’t meant to be.” But with this one I was sure that this was my role!
Jordan Elsass did a fantastic job with Jon, but to have the role come back to me in this way was so surreal and incredible. I am eternally grateful.
