A new footage update for Stranger Things season 5 suggests it is close to finishing production. Stranger Things has been one of Netflix's most successful shows since the release of the first season in 2016. While it also features seasoned stars like Winona Ryder and David Harbour, the show is known for introducing the world to some major emerging talent, including Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin and Noah Schnapp. Now, Stranger Things Season 5 is in production, which will be the last season of the series.
Now, a new post from Amybeth McNulty seems to suggest that Stranger Things season 5 could be close to the finish line.
The actor posted a series of photos that showed her getting into character for Stranger Things over the years. The accompanying text opened with “Wrapped!!” as McNulty thanked the Stranger Things team for “allowing [her] to join this spectacular project with the most amazing team.“The photos in the post included character and behind-the-scenes photos.
What does this mean for Stranger Things
Stranger Things announces production closure soon
Although McNulty's post indicates that Stranger Things has made significant progress, this should not necessarily be taken as an indicator that production on the hit TV series has completely shut down. In TV and film, but especially TV, there may be a “wrap” for an individual actor before the entire production is completed. If McNulty's Vickie doesn't appear in every episode of season 5, they could have ended her part before, for example, Eleven or other protagonists. Still, the post is a good sign that Stranger Things season 5 has at least made significant progress.
As of now, the final episodes of the series are scheduled for release in 2025, but they do not yet have a more specific release window than that. If Stranger Things will wrap production in the next few days, it's possible the show will arrive sooner rather than later in 2025. The special effects-heavy show likely still has significant work to do in post-production, but considering how successful it has been on Netflix so far, the producers will be able to take it forward.
Our opinion on the Stranger Things update
The gap between seasons is already long
It would be wise for Netflix if Stranger Things arrives at the earliest in 2025, as fans have already complained (and rightly so) about the long wait time between seasons. At this point, the former pre-teen cast has practically outgrown their roles, making it necessary for the show to end as quickly as possible. Unless the new season is released before the end of May, there will be a gap of more than three years between seasons 4 and 5 of the series. Hopefully the final episodes will have been worth the wait once Stranger Things season 5 is finally out.
