Stranger things Season 5 reportedly releases a new casting call, teasing the arrival of an important person from Jim Hopper’s (David Harbour) past. Created by Matt and Ross Duffer, the hit Netflix fantasy-horror show is returning in 2022 for season 4, with Harbor’s storyline in a Soviet prison comprising much of the runtime. Stranger things Season 5 is now in production and is confirmed to bring the show to an end, with Hopper now back at Hawkins to help out against Vecna and the upside-down incursion into the real world.

How it might affect Hopper’s storyline
Although Sara was relatively minor Stranger things character in terms of her actual presence on screen, She was a major driver of Hopper’s larger emotional arc on the show. When audiences first meet Hopper, he’s self-medicating with lots of cigarettes and alcohol, and he’s clearly haunted by Sara’s death, which caused his marriage to fall apart. As the show progresses, however, hope re-enters Hopper’s life in the form of Elf (Millie Bobby Brown), whom he eventually adopts.

Like the last season of the show, Stranger things Season 5 will bring the larger story full circle, and connecting Hopper’s arc back to Sara makes sense in that respect. It is possible that Sara’s casting is a bad omen for Hopper and that her return may somehow be connected to his death in some kind of noble sacrifice. It’s also possible, however, that Sara’s return is part of a happier ending for Hopper in which he finally lets her go as part of the conclusion of his emotional arc.
