Adaptation of Max Salem sectionhowever, also turned one of the story’s heroes into one of the most feared men in all of Lot.

Adaptation of Max Salem section made many changes to Stephen King’s book. Quite a few characters and subplots were cut from the film, resulting in the story having to be shortened slightly. It also meant that the film’s two main leads, Mark Petrie (Jordan Preston Carter) and Ben Mears (Lewis Pullman), took on more responsibilities than they originally had. Although these changes and cuts may have contributed to poor reviews of Salem sectionit also turned one character into an absolute menace compared to his book version and actually made him quite terrifying.

Mark Petrie becomes a much more violent 12-year-old killer on the Salem precinct, 2024.

Mark kills humans and vampires with ease and is much more fearless than his book counterpart

In Max’s adaptation Salem sectionMark Petrie is much scarier than in the novel. In the book, Mark was a very bright 12-year-old boy, but he was still a child at heart. He knew about vampires and the rules they followed, but he was just as scared as anyone else in that situation. Max’s Salem sectionhowever, Mark immediately, without hesitation, plans to kill both vampires and humans.. In fact, the only two times Mark shows fear is in his conversation with Max. Salem section. The first is when Barlow kills his parents, and even that moment had more to do with Mark’s rage than his fear. Mark then only becomes visibly distraught when Barlow is about to kill him in his driveway, which is a moment that would have scared anyone. Otherwise, Max’s adaptation turned Mark Petrie into a terrifying killing machine who killed vampires and humans indiscriminately.. He is an incredibly strong character, and the fact that he is only 12 years old makes him somewhat out of place in Salem sectionstory.

Mark’s characterization is more consistent with various Stephen King stories

Mark’s fearlessness would fit in It, Children of the Corn or The Long Walk.

IT Losers Club (2017)

Mark’s fearlessness and ruthlessness in the film adaptation of Max Salem section would fit much more naturally into one of Stephen King’s more child-oriented stories. Although the author is known for combining the innocence of childhood with his horror, some of his works do this more than others. THIS, Long walkAnd Children of the Cornfor example, the cast is made up of mostly child characters, and Mark Petrie would feel right at home in these stories.. Salem sectionOn the other hand, it’s really about the city itself and the people who call it home, so Mark’s unusual intensity doesn’t fit here.

King’s novel had a prologue and epilogue that explained that Mark and Ben fled to a town in Mexico and were spiritually healed there with the help of a priest. One for the roadrevealed that although they destroyed the city with fire, they were never able to destroy the vampires.

However, if the version of Mark presented in Max’s adaptation of Salem’s Lot had existed, he would have had a much better chance of surviving his return to the Lot.

Apart from the fate of Lot himself and Callahan’s father, Stephen King’s stories never mentioned Mark Petrie or Ben Mears after Salem section. It is unknown whether they survived their return to the Shire, or whether the vampires finally caught the last prey that managed to escape. If the version of Mark presented in Max’s adaptation Salem section however, if he had been nearby, he would have had a much better chance of surviving his return to Lot. It’s hard to say if Max was Salem section changed Mark Petrie for better or worse, but definitely made him more intimidating.
