Often these thrillers will have a scientific bent, with Silo, Dark Matterand Termination. But the preference for tense stories also goes beyond the realm of science fiction.

A disturbing child is at the center of the story
The thriller centers on Crystal’s character Eli, a child psychiatrist who recently lost his wife. He meets the troubled young manNoah (Jupe). A mysterious bond forms between the two, with Eli trying to help the child who has a mysterious connection to his past. Along with Jupe and Crystal, executive producers, Before also stars Judith Light as Eli’s wife Lynn, as well as Rosie Perez, Maria Dizzia and Ava Lalezarzadeh.
The series comes from Paramount Television Studios, with Sarah Thorp as showrunner, writer and executive producer, Eric Roth, pilot director Adam Bernstein and production director Jet Wilkinson also serving as executive producer. Before which has so far been marked by unfavorable responses. King has become a prominent name backing the thriller, which could help its fortunes.
