Starfield: Shattered SpaceThe release finally reveals more details about the mysterious Varuun faction that went into hiding after the Serpent Crusade. Much of the expansion focuses on completing a series of missions for the three existing houses: House Veth’aal, House Dul’kef, and House Ka’dik. Towards the end Destroyed spacethey are an important aspect of the final decision in Star field extension.
[This article contains major spoilers for the story of Starfield: Shattered Space]After defeating Anasco Varuun, Varuun’s temple in Dazra is destroyed and the player is faced with the decision to support House Weth’aal, Dul’kef, or Ka’dich as the House to serve as Speaker. for the Waruun people. Choosing a house to lead the people of Varuun’kai is the last decision the player character will have to make in the main missions for Starfield: Shattered Space. Sad, From a gameplay perspective, the house the player chooses at the end of Shattered Space has virtually no significance and does not appear to affect events outside of the DLC.
What happens when you choose House Vet’aal
House Vet’aal – Devoted Followers
House Vet’aal, led by the stubborn leader Victor Vet’aal, may have the most militaristic House on Varuun’kai. Boasting perhaps the most compelling story of the three houses, Victor takes the player character on an adventure to hunt down and kill his son Vaeric Weth’aal in the mission “A Conflict of Beliefs.” Eventually, the player finds Varick and can decide to spare him and let him live out his life under a different name, or fulfill Victor’s wish and kill him. Regardless of the choice made, House Veth’aal will believe that Vaerik is dead by the end of the mission.
At the end Destroyed spacethe player must stand in front of all three houses. Lovek speaks on behalf of House Weth’aal, the only one of the three houses advocating a resumption of the Serpent Crusade. Ultimately, regardless of the decision, the player character has the final say.
When talking to some NPCs in the city, the player may receive dialogue about the outcome of the rule of the militaristic House Veth’aal.. From a story perspective, this might be a better choice for those who would like to see a second Serpent Crusade, as Veth’aal would likely be best suited for the job.
What happens when you choose Dulkef House
House Dul’kef – Pragmatist Faction
House Dul’kef, located in the Halls of Healing and led by Hasmak Dul’kef, may have the most pragmatic of the Varuun houses. While still dedicated to the Varuun religion, this faction is also the most questionable, as its ideology is more based on science and technology. Upon starting “Exhuming the Past”, the player must repair the Ma’lin Dam, where he encounters the Void creatures, Kariya and Vedrasa Ma’lin, in order to recover the Void Lock, a special technology needed to complete the main mission. .
Connected
As with any other House choice, Dulkef’s choice ultimately does not make a significant or noticeable difference to the gameplay. From a story perspective, House Dul’kef refuses to renew the Serpent Crusade, making it the most peaceful of the houses. This will likely lead to the restoration of Varuun’kai with a more traditional social structure that still takes into account religion but also implements more secular solutions to problems.
The House Ka’dik choice is perhaps the least definitive choice of the three Houses, as it has no real standing unless it benefits the House itself.
Dulkef’s choice will also lead to some NPCs are having unique conversations about the power of the new Waruun’kai economy and are feeling overworked.. There’s even one unique phrase that discusses the potential of opening up trade to other factions in sedentary systems. Dul’kef should be chosen by those who do not wish to continue the Serpent Crusade.
What happens when you choose House of Ka’dik
House Ka’dik will do its best
Ruled by Chosen Elder Razma Ka’dich, House Ka’dich represents the unscrupulous underbelly of covert government operations. As with Ryujin Industries, the House’s power is based on backroom deals and a tenuous alliance with the fanatics of Varuun, the remnants of what was once House Ma’leen – followers of Jarek Varuun’s brother Jandar. Talking to Razma leads to the start of the mission “Jealous Interception”, in which the player must find Sahima in order to continue the main questline.
Like many politicians in real life, House Ka’dik abstains from even voting on the Serpent Crusade, choosing a middle path that results in the Diviner deciding the fate of the entire planet after arriving only days earlier. In conversations with settlers after the decision is made, fears about fanatics, the return of House Ma’leen, and greater acceptance of outsiders are repeated. The House Ka’dik choice is perhaps the least definitive choice of the three Houses, as it has no real standing unless it benefits the House itself.
Which house is better in Starfield: Shattered Space?
Choice based on history
From a gameplay point of view, Choosing a specific house makes no difference, except for a few unique lines of dialogue with the NPCs in Dazra.. However, from a story or narrative perspective, choosing a specific house will make more sense depending on the player’s goals. Ultimately, like many of the Starfield: Shattered Spacethe decision to choose a House at the very end of the game will have little impact on the universe as a whole.
If the player is a pacifist who believes in pragmatic scientific solutions and does not want to continue the Serpent Crusade, House Dul’kef is the best choice. Those hoping that Varuun will embrace his warrior-like religious past should choose House Veth’aal. Those who prefer political espionage, intrigue, and perhaps the revival of Varuun’s fanatics should choose Ka’dik.
There is a possibility that in the future, players will find hidden details related to the choices in Starfield: Shattered Space or that Bethesda will add more content or a patch that will have more impact on the larger universe, but for now – the decision is more important from a storytelling perspective than from a gameplay perspective. Perhaps a more important decision is the decision to allow the House to act as the new Speaker in general, since stating that no House is worthy will result in the player being banned from Varuun’kai and attacked on the spot upon their return. In addition, they will not have access to an empty house.
