Starfield player discovers new POI after 500 hours of playing with interesting implications

Although it has been a year since the release of StarfieldPlayers are still discovering new places of interest in the expansive, randomly generated space game. Although one of the main criticisms of the game is the repetitive nature of some environments like Spacer Caves or the abandoned cryo lab, other POI and environmental features are much more rare, like lava streams and Starfield rivers and lakes. One player stumbled upon a POI that many likely haven’t seen, even after hundreds or thousands of hours of playing.

The user Pedro_MS83 On Reddit discovered a seemingly abandoned camp with a ship crash landing marker – a common POI on planets in Starfield. However, what is different from this crash, unlike the vast majority of others, is actually A small massive camp with the ship, which was taken over from the surrounding terrain.Along with a shallow cave found nearby.

The top comment on the post demonstrates how rare this find actually is, with user Haravikk commenting, “I haven’t seen this yet after 500+ hours.“The user also comments on another rare POI they found called the Meteorite Testing Site, which, according to another user in this thread, contains a data slate from a scientist who warned of the incoming meteor shower that would continue to destroy the rare place.

Random POI should have built-in lore and side missions

Starfield POI Tables need adjustment

Although the data slate at the rare meteorite testing site is cool Starfield Easter egg, it highlights a huge missed opportunity for the game because the interesting and rare poi don’t have some sort of side mission or anything more substantial to do. Bethesda S Fallout 4After all, had a wide variety of different side missions that were received in the Commonwealth. From notes to radio tower transmissions, Fallout 4 Did a much better job at creating what felt like a living, breathing world in many ways.

Before the release of StarfieldTodd Howard correctly predicted that players will continue to find cool, hidden things in the game years after its release, but it shouldn’t be a result of skewed RNG tables that prefer one POI layout over another. While these rare features have the wow factor when long-time players eventually stumble upon them, lava, lakes, and cool crash-landing sites shouldn’t require hundreds of hours of investment.

Although not confirmed by game files or Bethesda, it seems that some of the more eye-catching and engaging or interesting POI are skewed to not spawning as often as others. While in one respect this makes the locales even more interesting when discovered, in another sense it is also locking up some of the most fascinating content for the vast majority of players who have not poured hundreds of hours into Starfield.
