Valley of the Stars It has some memorable moments that warm fans' hearts and provide deeper insight into the title's lore, but some, like a horrible sentient mass being brought to the surface, seem to have traumatized a fan. When players complete the “Juicy Bugs Wanted” community board request for Willy the Fisherman, a very interesting scene plays showing the insect meat found, and it is the stuff of nightmares.
In a recent Reddit post by altonbrownfana specific scene from Valley of the Stars seems to have traumatized them, as they believe that giving the pink mass eyes and the ability to move was a bit overkill. Completing the order for 100 bug meat for Willy rewards players with the recipe for high-quality Bobbers, but some wonder if it's worth doing after witnessing the consequences of the special order.
Stardew Valley is packed with details, for better or worse
Fans mention several other disturbing moments in the game
Willy's special order of 100 insect meats isn't the easiest of tasks, but it isn't very difficult either. When players accept the request on the Community Board for the first time, the post simply says: “Hey, I'm looking for a big piece of bug guts. The juicier the better… at least that's what the crabs seem to like… 100 pieces should do the trick.” No one knew that the results of a “big bundle of guts” would be horrible.
Of course, those who weren't petrified at the sight of the abomination had hilarious things to say, including commenter Dice Made From Cheese who claims, “Willy…if I had known you were going to turn that insect flesh into an eldritch abomination, I wouldn't have brought it to you.” Other users and Valley of the Stars fans brought up other scenes that made them a little uncomfortable, like when Linus teaches players how to create Wild Bait. Phunkie_Junkie makes reference to this scene saying“Linus: Come into my tent. I'll teach you how to improve your bait. *silence, silence, silence*.”
Stardew Valley's decoy creature would be at home in some other franchises
From “The Thing” to Dungeons & Dragons
While the extremely disturbing decoy creature with bones sticking out seems a little out of place in such a cozy title, it could do well elsewhere, according to reviews. User maryjanerain mentions “The Substance”, a horror film released earlier this year, and claims that the gelatinous blob resembled something from the film. Others, like jimmietwotanks26I think it looks a bit like Gibbering Mouther from D&D.
Whatever players compare it to the extremely creepy and apparently sentient blob of goo that is supposedly insect guts Valley of the StarsIt will always be considered one of the most traumatic scenes by fans. Even if it's not the most wholesome thing gamers have ever seen, small, intricate things like this keep fans coming back for more, and it shows how much thought ConcernedApe put into the title – even when it's a little on the Lovecraftian side.
