Stardew Valley Players Shocked to Realize Alex Has a Day Job

ONE Valley of the Stars Fans were so surprised to find out that Sam had a day job at the museum that they thought the detail was added in the last update. In reality, Sam's side gig has been part of the game since the beginning and is just another way that developer ConcernedApe brings Pelican Town's characters to life in realistic detail.

Reddit user kay-b808 I found villager Sam at the museum, playing something on his headphones while sweeping. Sam is so easy to miss because he's in a part of the museum that players have no reason to visit often, so finding him working diligently at his post in the Museum is somewhat shocking.

Another player passing bpdredheadedlefty on Reddit was equally surprised to realize this, stating “I'm married to the man and I didn't know he did this.“It appears that after the wedding, Sam stops working at the museum to stay on the farm and help the player. As a result, The museum show is a short, little-known part of Sam's life.

Running JojaMart outside of town in Stardew Valley has some negative repercussions

Some Stardew Valley characters depended on the store for a living

Valley of the Stars has two different game options: one that allows the big company, JojaMart, to prosper and that puts JojaMart out of business in favor of the restoration of the city's old community center. JojaMart was clearly designed to represent the game's greedy corporation, so the JojaMart race is an unpopular choice among Valley of the Stars players.

Still, the fact remains that work is work, and even fictional characters need to put food on the table somehow. When players cause JojaMart to close in the Community Center game, several city residents lose their jobs. Sam is one of those affected by the closure, which leads him to get another job in the Artifacts and Minerals section of the museum.

Stardew Valley delights players with its realistic characters

Life goes on even when players are not part of it

Sam may have found a new job after JojaMart was gone, but not all characters are as lucky. As king of new york highlights: “Poor Shane can't get a new job after Joja leaves.“Shane is one of the most problematic marriage candidates in Valley of the Stars and losing his job at JojaMart will result in him simply standing around at Marnie's ranch with seemingly nothing to do until he goes to the bar at night. This seems very sad and not having direction or employment could be a contributing factor to Shane's struggle have a positive outlook on life.

Shane and Sam are two great examples of how developer ConcernedApe managed to imbue each character in the cozy farming simulator with realistic personalities. The lives of Valley of the Stars the characters seem to carry on even when players aren't looking, from Marnie never being at her post to finding Sam doing his best in a town that has just lost one of its biggest sources of employment.
