Star Wars Introduced Coruscant’s Jedi Temple Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom MenaceAnd audiences saw his fall during order 66 two movies later in Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith. Now, a recent comic has revealed that during the tumultuous events of Order 66, there was another Jedi Temple in a much more remote area. In fact, if you look at the wider universe, there may have even been multiple Jedi Temples at the time.
The Jedi arts are not to be taken lightly, and require much dedication, living in the space where one is trained. This is where Jedi Temples come into play, and decades before Order 66, there were many more Jedi Temples across the galaxy. The assumption has always been that they all closed long before Order 66, but it turns out that’s actually not the case!
The Jedi maintained at least one other Temple during the Clone Wars
Jedi Temple Outpost lasted much longer than expected
During the High Republic era, Jedi Temples were much more common than during the prequel era. The time, first explored in books and later in The acolyteSeen Jedi Temple outposts as waypoints for Jedi living and training across the galaxy, from the Core to the Outer Rim. As the events of this era unfolded, however, the Jedi Order slowly became more reclusive.

Largely thanks to the efforts of the villain Nihil and their leader Marchion Ro, but also because of later periods of peace and Republic dominance, the Jedi slowly moved back to just Coruscant. The assumption, thanks to books like The living force by John Jackson Miller, was that nearly every Jedi Temple off Coruscant was closed by the time of Order 66 Or the Clone Wars. Inquisitors #4, however, just proved that idea completely wrong with the Jedi Temple on the planet Zondula.
The 501 Raid Raid other Temples, not just Coruscant
Zondula’s Temple fell to the clones
Inquisitors #4 by Rodney Barnes and Ramon Rosanas is part of a comic series about the Imperial Inquisitor, dark side agents sent to kill the remaining Jedi. In this particular issue, Star Wars Introduced the planet Zondula in an all-too-familiar Order 66 flashback, with the 501st clone troopers arriving and raiding the temple. They killed its Jedi inhabitants identical to how the Jedi were killed on Coruscant.
This flashback completely reframes the Order 66 idea fans know from the likes of Revenge of the Sith, The Clone WarsAnd The Mandalorian. While the main Jedi Temple on Coruscant’s fall was monumental, it was not the only Jedi Temple to be devastated by this tragic event. The knowledge that Jedi are much more spread across the galaxy than just those on Coruscant with their clone units makes Order 66 seem like a much more complicated operationAnd an all the more impressive feat of evil.
Were there other Jedi Temples during the Clone Wars as well?
Other instances of off-Coruscant temples
Other Jedi Temples had appeared around this era before, but were never fully staffed and manned by Jedi until Order 66. The Temple of Edith on the planet Devaron, first published in The Clone Wars Season 3’s episode “Monster“, existed during the Clone WarsBut Savage Opress killed the two lone Jedi there, probably leading to the end of the temple. The halls of Ilum were also considered a Jedi Temple, but not one that housed Jedi training and living quarters – and it was confirmed to be turned into an Imperial facility soon after.
The only other known Jedi Temple could possibly come from this novel Aftermath: Life Debt By Chuck Wendig. The book describes Rae Sloane remembering the legendary Imperial Army officer Hodnar Borrum as leading the charge of a group of clone troopers during the Jedi Purge. The charge was against the last group of survivors of the Jedi Purge, holed up in a mountaintop fortress, possibly another Jedi Temple like the one on Zondula.

Either way, the Zondula Jedi Temple alone makes Order 66 a very different event. More than just the Jedi on Coruscant or Jedi generals were devastated by their own clone troopers, as Jedi who were simply training or living on the galaxy’s edge were also targeted. Zondula shows us just how horrifying that was, while also opening the door to more potential stories about Jedi survivors in Star Wars‘ Forgotten Jedi Temples during Order 66.
