With the story of Andor season two is set to tie in even more closely to the formation of the Rebel Alliance, there are a plethora of options for amazing character cameos, and Star Wars appears to be riding a huge one. While Andorone Star Wars The TV show that is known for being more practical than fantastical will likely refrain from over-saturating its second season with cameos, it seems the franchise is setting up a major possibility. As the Rebel Alliance forms, the Galactic Empire prepares to act against it, and one character is central to this.
The newly released Star Wars Encyclopedia includes the story of Grand Moff Tarkin, including an example that deeply connects it to the Ghorman Massacre – an event that is already set to be a focus on Andor season 2. The Ghormans were mentioned in the Imperial Senate by Mon Mothma in Andor Season 1, and long before that, it was revealed that Mon Mothma had to flee the Empire after publicly blaming Palpatine for her actions during the Ghorman Massacre. Tarkin’s involvement in this key event, which will no doubt be shown, seems to suggest he could make a major appearance.
Tarkin’s atrocities, including those of Ghorman, cause a public outcry that leads to his reassignment to oversee pacification operations in the western reaches.. When the Salient system in the region resists the Empire, Tarkin confronts the Salient Battlegroup and Saw Gerrera’s Partisans, who are allied with them. He nullifies the battle group and takes control of the system.

What Tarkin’s Story Could Mean for Andor Season 2
The Ghorman Massacre and the Death Star
Tarkin’s story would fit perfectly into the timeline of Andor Season 2 and, more than that, it would be a vital part of everything that is happening at the moment. There are still elements of Tarkin’s story in the canon that have yet to be told; most notable is the story of how he came to be in command of the Death Star. Given that Andor season 1 is already closely linked to the construction of the Death Star, it is reasonable to believe that Tarkin’s own story surrounding the superweapon would be toldespecially with the confirmed presence of director Krennic.
Our Take on the Prospect of More Tarkin in Andor Season 2
There are complications with bringing Tarkin back
This, however, would be a difficult feat to achieve. Tarkin’s appearance in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story It was, and still is, to some extent, highly controversial, causing a legal battle with Peter Cushing’s estate that is still ongoing. It’s hard to imagine that Lucasfilm would willingly wade into deeper waters with this, though there are certainly other options. A complete overhaul would undoubtedly be the best choice, but Lucasfilm has been hesitant to do so in recent yearsas proven by the CGI recreations of Luke Skywalker in The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett.
Still, given the importance of Tarkin’s story to the overall narrative of Andor Season 2, it seems likely that Star Wars could have finally made an exception to this rule – or at least found a creative way around it. Andor the first season proved that this show and its creators are willing to take risksand that these risks are worth it. It wouldn’t be surprising, then, to discover how Tony Gilroy, Diego Luna and more of the creative team managed to bring Tarkin to life once again, if that was the path taken with the Ghorman Massacre in Andor 2nd season.
Andor season 2 premieres on April 22, 2025 on Disney+.
