As fans of Star Wars You know from the trilogy, Luke Skywalker first wore his black robes with hood and cape during the Rescue of Han Solo. The next time Luke dons the cowl and cape will be in The Mandalorian second season. In the latter, the mysterious faceless Jedi Knight ignites his lightsaber as he walks through the halls of Moff Gideon’s Imperial light cruiser, slicing through an army of dark soldiersbefore revealing his face at the end. In Rise of Insurgency, the scene is repeated, except on Adelhard’s star destroyer, building to the same bombastic reveal.
Luke Skywalker wore this uniform three times laterReturn of the Jedi, and each time has been on a rescue mission. Most of the time, Luke wears his black robes without the hood and cape, but it’s when he prepares for a mission that the hood and cape remain on. This new uniform perfectly represents Luke’s new status as a Knight and Jedi Master. After all, the prequels established that Republic Jedi also wore capes over their robes, creating an iconic silhouette as a symbol of peace and order.
Luke Skywalker’s new costume represents a long-desired version of the character
The thirty year gap between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens is a lost chapter, denying fans any chance to witness Luke continuing his mission, after being seen in his most powerful form after defeating Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine.
