Star Trek: Lower Decks'penultimate episode brought back six Star Trek legacy characters, but two were killed off in the end. In the biggest Star Trek crossing yet, Star Trek: Lower Decks pulled alternate reality characters from different Star Trek series to become the dream team crew of Section 31's Defiant-Class starship Anaximander, led by Captain William Boimler (Jack Quaid). Curzon Dax died heroically in Star Trek: Lower Decks Season 5, Episode 9, 'Fissure Quest'. Curzon came from a reality where he never passed on the Dax symbiote to Lieutenant Commander Jadzia Dax (Terry Farrell). Lower Decks' alt Curzon is the tactical officer on Captain Boimler's ship Anaximander. In Curzon's past life, he must also have been the United Federation of Planets Ambassador to the Klingons. because he carries a bat'leth and loves using it.

Unfortunately, Curzon was mortally wounded in defense of his crew after they escaped arrest by the Khwopians. To give Captain Boimler and his friends time to board and launch the Anaximander, Dax fought alone against a number of savage Khwopians. Curzon did not inform his crew that he was seriously injured and fell onto the bridge. Tragically, Curzon could not be saved, but T'Pol used a Vulcan mind meld to transfer the memories of the Dax symbiote into his brain. Curzon died knowing that T'Pol was his friend, after denying their friendship the entire time they worked together.

Star Trek: Lower Decks The death of another legacy character from Season 5, Episode 9 was Lt. Harry Kim, who became the villain of “Fissure Quest.” This alternate version of Harry tricked and kidnapped all of Ensign Harry Kims when he stole the Beagle, Captain Lily Sloane's starship with Quantum Reality hopping capabilities. Lieutenant Kim's crazy scheme was to bring his fellow Harrys into his reality where everyone could be promoted.

Lieutenant Harry Kim was amazed that their alternate reality selves were never promoted in their universes. Lieutenant Kim seethed at the disrespect he perceived, even from Captain Boimler's crew. Filled with arrogance for being a lieutenant, Harry refused to listen when science explained to him that his attempt to enter his Quantum Reality would explode the multiverse. After the Anaximander transported the ensigns back on board, Lieutenant Harry Kim continued his attempt to return home and exploded along with the Beagle.
