A new mechanic Honkai: Star Trail 2.7 has been leaked and I’m sure in fact, it can make some of the game’s consumables completely obsolete for a portion of players. Version 2.7 is the next major patch for HoYoverse’s turn-based RPG and it has already been confirmed that it will be the patch that introduces Fugue and Sunday as playable characters in the game. While the developer hasn’t officially announced other details, leaks are starting to emerge, such as the possibility of a major story spoiler in Honkai: Star Trail 2.7 that could change the campaign.
A large part of the content of version 2.7 has already been leaked. This includes the game kits and materials for Escape and Domingo, as well as a free picker that can be unlocked by reaching certain requirements during the update’s main event. There have also been rumors of new map areas being added to Astral Expressas well as a possible customization mode in Honkai: Star Trail being added to these zones. Now, there’s a leak about an entirely new mechanic that has the potential to stop the use of some of the game’s consumable items for good.
Honkai: Star Rail 2.7 could add a special tub to the rumored Trailblazer room
Different buffs can be obtained through the leaky bathtub mechanic
The first aspect of the leak concerns the rumors that the Trailblazer will have its own room on the Astral Express. As shown in the leaked images shared on Redditthe Trailblazer room appears to be accessible from the previously leaked Party Car. These main character’s personal quarters are large and include several different zones – one of them is the bathroom. Inside this bathroom, players can find a huge bathtub, which apparently has some customizable features. The customization, however, appears to be deeper than merely cosmetic, like the rest of the Trailblazer’s room in Honkai: Star Trail.
As can be seen in the leaked images, the player can alternate the contents of the bath through several options, which include hotter or colder baths, and various elements added to them. Although they immediately exhibit a different cosmetic value, these different types of baths can actually have gameplay effects that strengthen team compositions. According to information from the leaker known as HomDGCat, which was also shared in a post marked “Reliable” about RedditThe different types of lotions used after bathing can provide combat buffs to the player characters in Honkai: Star Trail.
As mentioned in the leak, there are apparently four different types of effects that can be triggered by bathing in the Astral Express. The first bath/lotion buff is rumored to be called Bath Efficacy, which increases the team’s ATK stat. The second mentioned in the leak is called Clear Fragrance, and this should increase the power of Ultimate DMG dealt by the party. The third, Mysterious Message, is said to increase the strength of Follow-Up Attack DMG, while the fourth buff, called Warm Current, increases the power of DoT (damage over time) by Honkai: Star Trail.
If the leak is true, these bathtub buffs in 2.7 should be beneficial for different types of team compositions. The ATK buff serves groups led by traditional DPS units such as Blade or Jingliu. The Ultimate DMG buff will likely increase the power of characters who have this ability at the core of their kits, such as Acheron. Mysterious Message should be useful for team compositions led by characters like Dr. Ratio and Feixiao, while Warm Current will increase the power of playable units like Black Swan and Kafka in Honkai: Star Trail.
Leaked Astral Express buffs could make consumables obsolete in Honkai: Star Rail
Using the bathtub seems much easier
The leaked buffs to the bathtub mechanic in version 2.7 could be enough to declare the game’s consumables obsolete. Currently, players can obtain certain stat bonuses by consuming items. Although they are beneficial, they are often forgotten before challenging in-game activities. Personally, I even forget that I have the option to consume certain items and gain important combat buffs that would make the battles I participate in much easier.. This includes defeating the Harmonious Choir boss in Honkai: Star Trail every week, for example. The fight could be smoother with consumable buffs.
However, these items are easily forgettable. I often only use consumables when I need to restore HP quickly, but even so, it seems much more practical and less taxing to go to a nearby Space Anchor to effortlessly restore the entire team’s HP and then return to the battle I want to challenge. Finding the item I need in the inventory can be tiring, even with the favorite option that brings the desired item to the top of the list. Overall, especially since I can do activities without them, I find few reasons to use consumables in Honkai: Star Trail.
This behavior should get even worse if the leak over the bathtub fixtures is real. While the leak doesn’t indicate the duration of the buff, there’s a chance it could be permanent as long as the bath type is selected in Astral Express. Therefore, I would only need to visit the location and change the type of bath depending on the type of team composition I intend to use. Additionally, the buffs provided appear to come at no cost. Not only do consumables disappear with use, which requires more crafting later, but some have a cost.
Consumables should still be used if bath buff leaks in Honkai: Star Rail 2.7 are real
Items provide unique bonuses in combat
Despite rumors about the practicality of bathtub lamps in version 2.7, this should not completely eliminate the use of consumables. In fact, some items offer additional benefits that the hollow bathtub does not. By consuming certain items, you can increase the team’s CRIT rate, maximum HP and SPD for the next battle, something that is not covered by the leaky tub buffs. As such, consumables continue to maintain their value, even if they are often limited to a certain number of battles.
For now, leaks about bathtub fans in version 2.7 should be taken with a grain of salt. The information provided may be incorrect, incomplete or subject to change. However, I feel like their possible introduction might make consumables obsolete for me – I already have trouble remembering to use them, and with the buffs the tub supposedly provides, I feel like I have even less reason to open my inventory in Honkai: Star Trail.
