Squid Game: Released took to the stage at the TGA, introduced none other than the show's Pink Guards – and a new guard in a black suit. Revealed alongside a teaser for the upcoming season 2, Freed is breaking Netflix Games tradition by being free for everyone for a limited time. Everything we know about the game Squid: Unleashed
A free party game for everyone (literally)
Squid Game: Released is a party royale game that promises the same high-octane action and chaos as the show (without the risk to life, of course). Players can participate in a series of games seen on the show, including glass bridge and red light green light. Although this is not the first time squid gameThe iconic games have been recreated in a video game, it is the first officially licensed video game release tied to the show.
Described as the “Squid Game's definitive video game,”Netflix promises”fast, exciting action and brutal competition in this multiplayer battle royale game.” Players will be able to battle online in a series of deadly challenges inspired by children's games, without any ads or in-app purchases. After the free play period ends, players will need an active Netflix subscription to access the game – and all other titles in the Netflix game catalog.
Our Take – Squid Game: Unleashed couldn't be better prepared for success
A guaranteed victory
For a party royale game that will be released almost simultaneously with squid game Season 2, it's hard to imagine Squid Game: Released it will not be a success. With the game releasing just days before Season 2 launches on December 26th, fans who revisit Season 1 and get excited about Season 2 will have a great opportunity to test your own gaming skills. Not even requiring a Netflix subscription – at least initially – further increases the potential player count, as does the platform itself; players only need a cell phone to enter.
We hope this marks a new trend for Netflix: the service already has linked games like The Queen's Gambit chess game, as well as a Love is blind game, and Stranger Things titles. Perhaps we will see more releases related to the launch of new seasons on the platform, further increasing our enthusiasm as fans. Here's to hope!
