With the movie finally on track to get off the ground, one fan put together a Chip Concept trailer envisions Jamie Foxx’s superhero transformation. The development of a new adaptation of Todd McFarlane’s graphic novel has been difficult, with Foxx expressing interest in portraying the titular character as far back as 2013 before officially signing on to the project in 2018. Chip Reboot has undergone frequent script rewrites, with McFarlane’s latest draft, JokerScott Silver, The Falcon and the Winter Soldiers Malcolm Spellman and Matthew Mixon.
Now, YouTube user KH Studio presented their vision for what the Chip Reboot could look like with a concept trailer.
The video, as shown above, is made up of a variety of clips from previous Foxx movies, namely Electro’s return in Spider-Man: No Way Home And Netflix Project powerTo establish what the story of his transformation into the titular character could be. The concept trailer also features audio clips from Martin Sheen’s original movie villain Jason Wynn and footage from Michael Jai White’s Spawn and Malebogia.
The Spawn concept trailer proves that Jamie Foxx remains the best casting choice
Even as the film’s progress has remained in various states of uncertainty over the years, Foxx’s dedication to leading the Chip Reboot stayed intact. McFarlane in particular has often praised the Oscar winner’s desire to play the titular superhero, being reassured to Screen Rant In January 2024 that “Jamie is my boyfriend“, even amid the various delays and uncertainty about whether he will direct or hand the reins over to someone else. See McFarlane’s full previous comment below:
Here’s the thing about Hollywood. You have people at certain times who are attached. But again, there is also scheduling. I may want the greatest director, but if they say: “You have a project, and you have a window, and you have to shoot it at this time,” and the director is not available? Then you go, “Oh, man.” You have only two choices, you either wait or you have to go to your other choices or whatever. We all hope, fingers crossed, that the team we assembled at the beginning will still somehow all be involved. But we’ll have to let it all play out, right? And because I think ultimately the people spending $100 million bucks are going to be the ones who are going to dictate [those big decisions]. But Jamie is my guy. So, until someone tells me otherwise, Jamie is my guy.
Beyond his general interest in the role, there are a number of reasons why Foxx remains the best casting choice for the role Chip Reboot movie. One thing this concept trailer highlights is his ability to layer an emotional story in his blockbuster projects. Whether it was a loving father trying to save his daughter from a greedy corporation in Netflix project power, A collector who just longed to belong The Amazing Spider-Man 2Or a laidback vampire hunter who wants to provide for his family Day shiftFoxx always finds a compelling emotional core for his characters.

The other main factor that makes Foxx the perfect choice for the Chip Reboot is his continued success in action-oriented projects, with Netflix Day shiftIn particular, displaying his impressive physicality in John Wick-like action sequences. Although McFarlane’s hero may be better known for primarily using his otherworldly powers to take down his enemies, incorporating this more involved fighting could bring a fresh twist to the character that sets Foxx’s version apart from previous adaptations.
