Saber Interactive has released a major update for War Hammer 40,000: Space Marine 2titled “Obelisk”. One of the main additions in the Obelisk update is a new playable map for Operations mode, also called the Obelisk. This takes place on the burial planet Demerium, and all players can access this map regardless of whether they have a season pass. The update also introduces a new enemy called Tzaangor Enlightened. This fast-moving Chaos unit rides a Disc of Tzeentch and can be found in all Operations missions involving the Thousand Sons.
For those who found the Season Pass worthwhile and currently own it, a Dark Angels Chapter Pack is coming that includes a new Champion skin for the Bulwark class, weapon skins, a Storm Shield skin, and over 40 items additional cosmetics representing different successor chapters of the Dark Angels. The update also brings technical improvements such as higher resolution and frame rates for PS5 Pro users. Additionally, PC users can finally take advantage of AMD's FSR 3 and Nvidia's DLSS 3 with frame generation support.
For this operation, you will be sent to Demerium to rotate a replica of the obelisk and stop the flow of energy protecting the Aurora device. This operation takes place parallel to the final events of the campaign. To get to the obelisk control console, you will have to go through a tomb plunged in darkness. To make your progression even more difficult, the forces of Chaos have a new addition to their roster: the Tzaangor Enlightened, a new enemy of Majoris! They will now appear in all PvE operations with Chaos.
How the Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine Obelisk update improves the game
It's a big update
The Obelisk update brought a lot of new content to Warhammer 40,000: Marine 2, including the new Operation map, which should make co-op more replayable due to its new PvE challenges. New XP rewards based on how many enemies players defeat in Operations mode (called “Slayer Bonuses”) should help players progress faster. There have also been fixes to the melee system, which will make the system much better for players who are having issues with it.
These updates and new Twitch releases should bring more attention to the game as players are rewarded for watching popular streamers and bugs have been fixed. While Obelisk and the Enlightened Tzaangor enemy also offer more gameplay for free, The Dark Angels Chapter Pack gives players a reason to buy the Season Pass, helping developers make more money. Saber Interactive has also made technical improvements, such as the addition of FSR 3 and DLSS 3, which improve the game's appearance and operation on different computers.
Our opinion: a big win for gamers
It's hard to find anything wrong here
I'm excited about this update, mainly because I like the War Hammer 40,000 universe and had great hopes of Warhammer 40,000: Marine 2. Many thought the future of Space Marine 2 was in trouble, but that makes me disagree. It's great to see a mix of free content and paid options, so that players who prefer not to invest more money in the game do not feel left out. I understand that every developer needs to make money and Giving more rewards to those who get the Season Pass is a very friendly way to do this.
While the new mission and new enemy make the game much more replayable, the fixes that came patch 5.0 They are a great addition. Patch 5.0 covers minor bugs, but also addresses things players have talked about. For example, the upgrade to melee increases weak damage and even changes things so players can stop spamming Parry – Gun Strike. While I'm sure this will become even more balanced and fine-tuned, it's a big step forward for Warhammer 40,000: Marine 2.
