Warhammer 40,000: Marine 2 continues to be a truly excellent third-person shooter, thanks in no small part to the immense post-launch support it continues to receive from Saber Interactive. Whether it's new operations for players to dive into, towering new bosses to face, or powerful new weapons to destroy both the Tyranid and Chaos forces, Space Marine 2 continues to receive a lot of love.
Its latest patch continues this tradition by adding a much-needed feature that improves operations. It may seem like a small adjustment, but it will greatly change the way you many players tackle certain sections of Operations, ensuring that those who are satisfied can continue playing the way they enjoy. Space Marine 2 continues to be one of the better War Hammer games of all time, and it is all thanks to updates like this.
PvE missions have changed forever thanks to patch 5
Players will want to tackle every encounter
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 The latest patch introduced an all-new feature that will make players more involved with each operation. To prevent players from skipping certain sections and encounters within an Operation, Space Marine 2 will now award players with a Slayer Bonus. According to the update notesplayers will earn a different Slayer Rank depending on how many spawned enemies they kill, with higher ranks granting significantly more XP.
For example, to earn Rank A, players will need to kill more than 85% of spawned enemies. The reward for achieving this rank is +120% of the pre-patch XP value. Of course, players actively choose to skip certain encounters during Operations to avoid attacking enemies and skip to the more fun sections. It's an understandable choice, but the new Slayer Bonus will make these sections really worth doing. Game director Dmitriy Grigorenko explained the new feature in the patch notes:
“This change simply increases the amount of XP players receive in Operations mode if they zealously exterminate enemy waves. This aims encourage players not to skip encounters, without punishing those who want to skip, and makes the game less complicated in preparation for new features to come (e.g. Prestige Ranks).
Players who still want to skip these sections won't be punished for doing so, but those who decide to engage with them or now decide it's worth doing so will be significantly rewarded. It's a fair trade, which proves, once again, that Saber Interactive is capable of adapting Space Marine 2 to meet the needs and desires of their fans.
More highlights from Space Marine 2 patch 5
A new operation and a big bonus to melee combat
Marine 2 The Patch 5 update also added several other amazing features. The most important thing is the Obelisk Operation, which takes players to Demerium during the events at the end of the main campaign. It looks like it will be just as exciting as previous operations, especially thanks to the new enemy type, Tzaangor Enlightened. It's a flying unit that flies around on its floating saucer, launching ranged attacks at the player before getting up close and personal to finish the job. Players will want to focus on these first to ensure they don't get eliminated.
The new Dark Angels Chapter Pack DLC has been added, giving players even more customization options for their massive Space Marines. Additionally, there have been a number of balance fixes that greatly improve combat, especially melee. Blocking weapons have become more effective, allowing them to accumulate melee defense buffs before releasing them as a deadly AoE attack that will knock enemies down. Melee damage has also been increased overallmaking it more effective and ensuring that players do not rely on the same strategies across operations.
Of course, all of this comes with general adjustments to the game flow and various mechanics, including a handful of weapons receiving small improvements. It's yet another update in a long line of fantastic updates that work to greatly improve Space Marine 2 and ensure it is one of the most talked about and played multiplayer shooters available. Warhammer 40,000: Marine 2 is surviving thanks to this constant stream of operations, fixes, and balance adjustments, and its dedicated fanbase couldn't be happier.
