King recently took to X to share some details about what he’s currently working on, and he gave the biggest hint yet about the content of his next book. In the post, King shared that he is “back in Middle World… and the Territories.” These locations feature heavily in his acclaimed Dark Tower series, which reportedly ended in 2012 with the eighth installment, The wind through the keyhole. However, given the series’ enormous scope, new episodes were always a possibility.

But unfortunately, King is unlikely to return to the Dark Tower franchise soon. Instead, his taunt of the Territories is more likely to be a reference to The Talisman 3which takes place in the same location. Importantly, he’s teased this project before – while The Dark Tower franchise is not something he has expressed interest in revisiting.

Another talisman book is equally exciting (and will likely connect to the Dark Tower)

The two series may finally be converging

Stephen King It’s not strange to connect his stories, and there’s even an argument that everything he wrote is technically connected in some way. However, officially bringing The Talisman 3 in Middle World would be more than an Easter egg – it could lead to some kind of spin-off or loose sequel that builds on the events of the Dark Tower series.
