Fans of Sailor Moon and Dragon Ball were divided for decades over who would win a battle between Sailor Moon and Goku. Both characters are some of anime’s most iconic heroes and have become symbols of their respective genres. While Goku is known for his tireless training and ever-increasing combat skills, Usagi Tsukino, better known as Sailor Moon, defends her universe and fights for love and justice.
At first glance, it might seem obvious that Goku would be at an advantage, considering his mastery of martial arts and impressive power. However, Sailor Moon’s power goes far beyond brute strength. When examining Usagi Tsukino’s exploits, it becomes clear that a battle between her and Goku may not be as one-sided as many Dragon Ball fans might think.
Goku is only stronger than Sailor Moon in terms of physical strength
Sailor Moon doesn’t stand a chance against Goku in a battle of brute strength
Goku’s physical strength is one of his greatest assets, which he has honed over a lifetime of tireless training and battles against world-threatening enemies. His strength and agility allow him to defend himself against universal gods and tyrants. Along with his multiple transformations, Goku is a terrifying force to face. Against Usagi, Goku’s superior physical strength is an insurmountable advantage this would easily defeat Usagi in a fraction of a single blow.
However, in both Dragon Ball and Sailor MoonBattles are not won by brute force alone. Usagi does not rely on physical ability to win her battles. Instead of, she relies on her magical abilities, which operate on a completely different scale. So while Goku’s physical dominance is undeniable, it’s far from the deciding factor between who would win a fight between him and Sailor Moon.
Goku can fight gods, but Usagi eventually becomes one
Usagi Tsukino’s final incarnation shouldn’t be dismissed so easily
Goku has always wanted to fight powerful opponents and has stood up to fighters like Jiren, Granolah and Beerus himself. Goku’s ability to challenge beings whose power surpasses comprehension is a direct reflection of his own jaw-dropping combat skills and ability to break through any perceived limits. However, despite these victories and gaining divine ki, Goku remains mortal through and through, so while he may catch the attention of the god of destruction, he himself is not a divine being.
However, Usagi reaches a level of existence that surpasses god status. As her story progresses, she eventually evolves into her final incarnation, Sailor Cosmos. In this form, Usagi doesn’t simply fight gods, she becomes someone who wields an unbelievable amount of power. For those unfamiliar with Usagi Tsukino’s magical ability and ultimate form, it is easy to dismiss her, but the extent of her power should not be underestimated.
None of Goku’s transformations are as OP as Sailor Cosmos from Sailor Moon
Sailor Cosmos is a being unlike anyone Goku has ever faced
Goku’s transformations are legendary and unforgettable, each marking a significant increase in his power. True Ultra Instinct in particular, his most powerful transformation to date, allows him to act without thinking and move faster than his enemies can perceive, allowing him to dodge attacks with little effort. However, he never receives a transformation that allows him to operate outside the realm of physical or ki-based attacks, making him quite limited when compared to Usagi Tsukino’s final form as Sailor Cosmos.
Sailor Cosmos is on a whole different scale compared to Goku. As Sailor Cosmos, Usagi achieves a form of omnipotence that transcends time, space and reality itself. This final form is unlike his previous abilities and completely redefines his role and power, granting him the ability to rewrite existence and defeat any force of evil. Unlike Goku’s transformations which rely on his strategic and physical combat, Sailor Cosmos is a limitless force that completely eclipses the concept of strength.
Like Sailor Cosmos, Usagi is able to manipulate reality to her willallowing you to undo damage and rewrite results. These abilities put her in a league that far surpasses Goku’s combat abilities, even in forms like True Ultra Instinct. Although Goku’s power is impressive and he would win in a physical fight, Usagi’s final incarnation is simply too overpowered. In an all-out battle between Dragon Ball and Sailor Moon protagonists in their final transformations, there is little doubt that Sailor Cosmos will emerge victorious.
