Fans of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 I will need to accept this Insomniac Games has no plans to release any more content for the popular open-world game. After the first entry of Insomniac’s take on the Web-Slinger received a trio of middling story-focused expansions, the community expected the studio to develop the sequel, having learned from past mistakes. It turns out that won’t be the case, but there’s good news for PC gamers who haven’t yet tried the game on PlayStation 5.
Posting on official PlayStation Blog, Insomniac Games has confirmed that there will be no DLC for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 while announcing that the game will be released for PC on January 30, 2025:
“While We have no additional story content planned for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2We’re excited to bring all of our previously released post-launch content to the PC version, including New Game+, new costumes and color variants, Photo Mode features, and more.”
The PC version of the game will include all content added to the Spider-Man 2 through free updates; This includes 12 new outfits, end levels, additional Symbiote outfit styles, time of day options, and post-game achievements.. The Deluxe Edition will also have a number of early unlocks, five exclusive costumes for Peter and Miles, five bonus skill points, and extra Photo Mode items.
Does Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 need DLC?
It would be nice to have, but not necessary
Despite receiving enthusiastic praise from critics, some of the Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 the community felt unimpressed with the sequel’s narrative. The game establishes several storylines that lead to suspense or seemingly set up an extension of the established narrative, leading many to believe that DLC was in the works. The announcement that this is not the case will undoubtedly anger some but at the same time, it’s important to know that Insomniac knows what they’re doing.
Game development is often a matter of scope fluctuations, so it may be that Spider-Man 2 was initially designed to have DLC, but these projects were cut for whatever reason. Some of the outstanding threads could be resolved in a third game, if that’s what the studio has planned. Fans will just have to wait and see what the future holds.
Screen Rant’s opinion: DLC is not necessary
The game is already fantastic
I believe that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 suffered a case of overkill as many players expected the game to be significantly larger than was possible. As a product, I think it’s a fantastic time, filled with great superhero moments; The story may not have hit as hard as the original, but that’s usually the nature of sequels. The DLC would have been a nice surprise, but I don’t think it’s necessary to “save” the experience.
