Firewalk Studios, the developer behind the failed first-person shooter Concordiahas officially closed, according to a blog post by Sony Interactive Entertainment. Concordia was released on August 23, 2024, to a deadly cocktail of mixed reviews and fierce competition. It failed to sustain a player base, peaking at less than 700 players worldwide on Steam, and was shut down just two weeks later.
Firewalk isn’t the only studio Sony closed today, as mobile game studio Neon Koi also appears to have been affected by the closures. Bloomberg estimates that the two studio closures could lead to the loss of up to 210 jobs.
Despite this initial disappointment, there was some hope for a Concordia renaissance, especially considering Firewalk’s continued existence and announcement, after Concordiais delisting that it would be”continue exploring options.” However, all dreams of Concordia returning has been thwarted by this latest announcement, which seems to confirm that the game is indeed dead.
