Sonic 3’s New Post-Credits Teaser Is Creating a Big Problem for the Future of the Franchise

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 has already teased its emotional post-credits scene, but this pattern is actually creating a huge problem for the future of the franchise. THE Sonic the Hedgehog The films have surprisingly become known for their post-credits scenes, with both films released so far featuring post-credits scenes that showcase exciting new characters. It has already been confirmed that Sonic the Hedgehog 3The post-credits scene will do something similar, but this could end up creating a problem that the live-action film series won’t be able to solve.

Sonic the Hedgehog director Jeff Fowler spoke with electronic warfare before the release of Sonic the Hedgehog 3and the director had some interesting things to say about the ending of the third film. Fowler has already confirmed that the end of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 will reveal another huge character, with this new character potentially playing a role in Sonic the Hedgehog 4. This is based on the revelations that were seen at the end of Sonic the Hedgehog and Sonic the Hedgehog 2but the film series can’t maintain this pattern of revelations forever.

Sonic The Hedgehog’s post-credits reveals are running low on exciting characters

After Tails & Shadow, who’s there?

While Sonic the Hedgehog 3The potential post-credits reveal is exciting, the path the series is taking means it will soon run out of exciting characters. The first Sonic the Hedgehog the film’s post-credits scene revealed Tails, who is arguably the most popular Sonic the Hedgehog protagonist outside of Sonic. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 used its post-credits scene to reveal the existence of Shadow the Hedgehog, an incredibly cool villain who immediately set the stage for the third film’s story.

However, the Sonic the Hedgehog the films are already without characters as cool as Tails and Shadow. While there are still some popular characters like Amy and Metal Sonic, they don’t create the same excitement as someone like Shadow. Furthermore, the introduction of Amy or Metal Sonic wouldn’t mean that they would also bring an exciting story to Sonic the Hedgehog 4with them not carrying as much weight as the Shadow the Hedgehog reveal.

Even though Sonic the Hedgehog 3 manages to figure out a way to have a post-credits scene as exciting as its predecessors, it will be difficult for the film series to continue doing this in the future. Once Amy and Metal Sonic are out of the way, who else will be there? Characters like Silver, Big the Cat, Chaos, and others aren’t as exciting or well-known as the main cast of Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, which means the films will have to try another approach soon.

Previous Sonic Movie Character Reveals Worked for General Audiences and Sonic Fans

Everyone knows who Tails and Shadow are

The reason why the above Sonic the Hedgehog worked post-credits scenes is that they were exciting for both the general public and Sonic the Hedgehog fans. When Tails was revealed, all audience members immediately knew that this meant the world of the film series was much larger than initially thought. Shadow’s reveal worked because he is an iconic character, and while the general public may not be aware of his history, they probably know who he is.

Future Sonic the Hedgehog Character reveals might work for fans of the franchise, but they likely won’t work for general audiences. While one Sonic the Hedgehog fans would know that the introduction of Silver or Chaos is a big deal, these characters are quite specific, with these potential post-credits scenes likely to leave general audiences just scratching their heads. The well of the popular Sonic the Hedgehog characters is pretty shallow, with the live-action film series running out of possible post-credits characters quickly.

Sonic’s Post-Credits Scene Can Still Be Saved (If They Do It)

They should focus more on story than character

Although it is difficult to continually generate enthusiasm with Sonic the Hedgehog post-credits scenes, it’s not impossible. However, films will have to take a different approach. Instead of focusing on introducing new characters, Sonic the Hedgehog post-credits scenes should focus on putting together stories with characters that already exist.

If the shadow is missing Sonic the Hedgehog 4prompting his return in Sonic the Hedgehog 5 it would be incredibly exciting. A post-credit scene can trigger a hero’s transformation into a villain, or vice versa. THE Sonic the Hedgehog films need to start focusing on fleshing out characters rather than just introducing new ones like Sonic the Hedgehog 3 It may be the last film where the pre-credits formula works.
