I don’t think people will want that. In the past, we used to joke about it with the Mick, and he used to be very strongly against it. And exactly for the reasons you say: there is the fascination with lamb.

But then Mick wrote a brilliant book called ‘The Secret Hour’ where he goes back to post-war Berlin with Lam and Molly. It’s a fantastic book as it goes between the two timelines. And he brings in some Slow Horses in a really fun, tangential way. So this can be a really interesting thing to do. It is not really a young lamb, but he is still the essence of lamb.
But, as you say, it is difficult. Don’t spoil the magic of what the hell happened to him. You just [wonder]’What made you like that, Lamb?’ This is the question that is on everyone’s mind. And yes, would it be the wrong thing to answer that? I don’t think you can cast a different actor. You just can’t. Gary is lame, that’s it.
I’m talking about three here, there’s nothing that happens. But yeah, I think Gary is just such a great actor. I would like to see how Gary handled the challenge of playing a di-old lamb, which hopefully the technology is there that he could do it, and how he would physically approach it, and how he would think. I would like to hear this or explore this, but there is nothing that is actually happening.
I just can not imagine anyone that Jackson lamb with [a younger actor]. You have to go, okay, ‘Who is young Gary Altman?’ And Gary is Gary is Gary. It’s really a hard thing to do. It’s a really tall ask that, yes, it shouldn’t be approached.”
It has several challenges
Oldman’s performance is an integral part of what makes The Slow Horses Lead so intriguing and successful. At the same time, not delving too deeply into Jackson Lamb fits the character’s burned-out and detached nature. Smith’s comment suggests that The audience may not find a prequel too interesting.
