Skyler Gisondo has been acting on TV and in movies since the age of 6, so it’s no surprise that he has a huge variety of projects on his acting resume. Although he got his start in commercials and TV shows, he made a quick transition into movies. While many of his projects as a young actor were in family movies and shows, he has since appeared in teen comedies, sci-fi stories, and crime dramas.
Gisondo is also slated to appear in the next big DC superhero movie. He will be in Superman On the big screen as Jimmy Olsen. It’s his biggest project to date, and it’s set for a 2025 release.

It did, however, give Gisondo one of his first tastes of voiceover work. Since then, he’s voiced several animated characters or animals in live-action. The National Lampoon movies are classics starring Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo, although the modern names on the movie series haven’t fared quite as well. The particular comedy style of the movies is definitely a product of its time, so many of the modern attempts have fallen flat. This may not be the most beloved version of a Vacation movie, but it’s a great showcase for Gisondo’s teenage work in the industry.
Gisondo’s storyline in the movie is one of the supporting ones instead of the main story of the family vacation trip. He plays Jacob, the teenage brother of the family who happens to be bullied by the younger brother. He is not the most popular or charming of characters, but Gisondo still manages to endear him and make the audience root for him.

Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later (2017)
Like days
Gisondo appears in three episodes of the eight-episode limited series, so he’s not there for the entire run, but that doesn’t detract from his performance in Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later. The series picks up, as the title suggests, 10 years after the original movie with a new group of characters and new shenanigans, although many original cast members return as well.
Gisondo plays Degs, the new bad boy of the camp counselors. He has been compared by others in the series to Paul Rudd’s Andy, and in fact, he and Andy eventually compete to be the “King of Camp.” Gisondo proves that he has a talent for comedy when he is able to hold his own in scenes opposite Rudd and other comedy veterans.
The movie prompted some comparisons between Gisondo and Rudd who didn’t really have a very different career trajectory. For example, they both played the character of Tommy Doyle in different generations of Halloween Movies.

Booksmart (2019)
Like Jared
Booksmart was widely praised as a coming-of-age film for the modern day. It’s a party movie, one that features one last hurray before the main characters leave high school for college. That particular subgenre of teen comedies usually focuses on male friends, however Booksmart Follows another path, focusing on two young women who focused too diligently on their academics that they did not have much of a social life outside of each other.
Kaitlyn Dever and Beanie Feldstein are the leads of the movie, and they are electric in their roles, but the supporting cast, which includes Gisondo, helps make the movie cohesive and realistic, even in heightened situations. Gisondo plays a classmate who has a crush on Feldstein’s character. He doesn’t have very many scenes in the movie, but the ones he does make an impact because the characters connect with other people who can’t get to know the real them. It’s a very relatable look at teen feelings.
Booksmart and its cast were nominated at numerous film festivals after its release.

Hard Sell (2016)
Like Hardy
Hard sell is probably one of the least-known of Gisondo’s movies. It’s an underrated gem of a teen drama that deserves to have more eyeballs on it.
In the movie, Gisondo stars as Hardy, a poor student who goes to school with rich kids and never feels like he fits in. His mother, who is unstable on her best days, devotes her time to her dog. When the dog gets sick, Hardy is willing to do whatever he can to save the dog and keep his mom happy. When he meets a socialite who is willing to help him swindle his rich classmates out of their money, he sees it as a win-win.
Of course, in the grand tradition of teen movies, Gisondo’s Hardy has to learn a lesson along the way. Gisondo is great in the role, and it’s certainly a preview of how adept he can be as a comic and a dramatic actor.

Class Rank (2018)
Like Bernard
Another underrated gem among Gisondo’s movie roles is his performance as Bernard In Class rank. With his youthful looks, it’s entirely possible that Gisondo could continue playing teen roles like this for a few years to come.
Class rank Gisondo stars as a young man who joins forces with one of his classmates, played by former Disney Channel star Olivia Holt, to become a member of the local school board. It is unusual for a teenager to become a member of a school board, and this idea allows the film to take on ideas of modern politics and the way young people engage both politics and their own education.
Of course, the movie is also a love story. Gisondo’s Bernard has to come to terms with his own feelings for Veronica while they work together, only realizing how he feels about her after their long journey. Class rank Proves that Gisondo could very well become a rom-com leading man one day.

Gisondo gets the chance to appear as a regular kid in a larger-than-life world…
Gisondo did not have a huge role in the Andrew Garfield Spider-Man Movies. It is fitting, however, that he has a supporting role in both a Marvel and now, a DC project, seeing different sides of the superhero spectrum at different times.
Gisondo plays the younger brother of Emma Stone’s Gwen Stacy. This means that he is not heavily involved in the action, but instead, he is in the scenes that help the superhero movies. He is at the family dinners with the Staceys, reminding the audience of the real families that populate the world of superheroes. He can be an annoying little brother in one scene or a supportive little brother in another.
Gisondo gets the chance to appear as a regular kid in a larger-than-life world while Spider-Man is busy saving the city.

The righteous gem is an interesting blend of dark comedy and crime. It was a hugely successful series for HBO, garnering a lot of critical praise and award show nominations.
The series follows a dysfunctional family who happen to be televangelists. They use their megachurch presence and funding to live extravagant lifestyles that seem to mean more to them than their actual faith at times. Each season of the series follows the family’s efforts to expand their church into new territories, including a religious resort at one point.
Gisondo plays Gideon who, at first, is the black sheep of the family. He left the job with the church to pursue a career as a stunt actor. That means he has some unusual skills compared to the rest of his family, like stunt driving and martial arts. It gives Gisondo a chance to really stretch his acting skills.

It is a great role for Gisondo as he will play to his comedic strengths, but the show is also full of pathos.
Santa Clarita Diet is a hidden gem on Netflix. This unusual supernatural comedy is one of the best shows that Netflix has to offer. It combines elements of a family comedy with that of a zombie horror, making for a fresh take on a zombie story.
Drew Barrymore stars as a woman who ends up one of the undead, and has a desire for human flesh. Gisondo is her family’s friend and the one who helps her the most with her transition to being a member of the undead. He also happens to be the stepson of one of her early victims on the show. It is a great role for Gisondo as he will play to his comedic strengths, but the show is also full of pathos.
Unfortunately, Netflix canceled the series on a cliffhanger, which will definitely leave new viewers wishing for more of the show.

psychic was a very successful crime series because it was an offbeat comedy loaded with friendship and pop culture references. With a pineapple in every episode and a list of nicknames longer than the arms of most fans, the series is both hilarious and a challenge for those who love a mystery. Gisondo did not appear in the entire run of the show, but he appeared in several seasons in flashbacks as the younger version of James Roday Rodriguez’s character, Sean.
While Shawn is an incredibly pious man pretending to be a psychic in the modern day, as a child, he was trained to see what others don’t by his detective father. For the first few seasons of the show, Liam James played Young Sean. As James aged and grew, however, a new actor was brought in to represent Sean’s age in the flashbacks. The same happened for the actor playing the younger Gus.
That meant that Gisondo not only had to take on another actor’s role, but he also had to be believable as someone who could grow up to be the older Sean. Skylar Gison Stepped into the role effortlessly and became a part of one of the best and most unique crime shows of all time.
