Skeleton Crew Episode 5 is the best episode yet, thanks to a solid twist, some dark elements, and the propulsion of its pirate-based plot. Skeleton Crew episode 5's Easter eggs were plentiful as the kids and Jod Na Nawood traveled to the planet Lanupa. As Skeleton CrewAs the cast of characters searched for pirate captain Tak Rennod's hidden vault, they moved closer to find Attin's hidden location.
In my review of Skeleton Crew in episode 4, as well as episode 3, I noticed that the show seemed to be pivoting slightly in search of Attin. While this didn't hinder my enjoyment of the show due to the strength of the characters and the overall tone of the Skeleton Crew Yes, I expected episode 5 to speed up the pace a little in relation to the central journey. Happily, Skeleton Crew episode 5 provided just that, making it the best episode of the series so far.
Skeleton Crew Episode 5 Progressed the Story in Several Important Ways
Characters were developed, coordinates were found and villains were defeated
Skeleton Crew episode 5 benefited enormously from its fast-paced story. SM-33 quickly remembered the location of his former master Captain Tak Rennod's lair, leading the children to a fascinating hot spring planet called Lanupa. This led to a treasure hunting journey of the highest order, as the characters navigated traps and pirates to find a safe that would lead them to Attin. This journey perfectly captured what works so well Skeleton Crewstory and tone.
The development that Attin is famous for owning a “mint” that produces credits on a large scale is also interesting, leading Jude Law's Jod to take a darker turn. The episode ends with Jod challenging Fern for the captaincy of the Onyx Cinder, taking on a much more threatening nature now that he knows Fern's true nature. Skeleton CrewIt's in Attin. As the episode ends, the crew is separated, Jod is the captain with a new lightsaber, the key to Attin is obtained, the show's pirate pursuers are mostly defeated, and Skeleton CrewThe story is left at an intriguing point in the final three episodes.
Skeleton Crew Episode 5 proves the show wins Star Wars
What became clear to me in Skeleton Crew episode 5 is how much the show earns Star Wars. I didn't hide in previous reviews that I thought this, but episode 5 really made it clear. The series' optimistic tone, lovable characters, arcs, and childlike sense of wonder are the values George Lucas envisioned for the franchise in the 1970s. Skeleton Crew episode 5 continues all of these elements, as well as developing the plot significantly, while accumulating other elements that make it a perfect encapsulation of Star Wars.
The appearance of the Hutt characters, the Muun aliens and the excellently designed benevolent Cthallops character are excellent Star Wars Easter eggs for the wider franchise. Then there's a more in-depth exploration of the pirates, be it Jod or the villain Tak Rennod, adding more to an under-explored section of the franchise. Finally, Skeleton Crew adds more to the exploration of the Force through connections to Qui-Gon Jinn and the inclusion of a lightsaber, rounding out the show's best installment yet.
