Notice! This post contains SPOILERS for Star Wars: Skeleton Crew episode 6Skeleton Crew episode 6 is full of exciting Easter eggs and Star Wars references. There are also some really great references to classic pirate lore and pop culture. This is especially true with Jude Law's Jod Na Nawood reuniting with his former crew with the intention of plundering the secret missing treasure planet known as Attin.
As seen in Skeleton Crew episode 5, Jod betrayed Wim, Fern, KB and Neel the moment he discovered Attin's location and the message from the legendary Captain Tak Rennod that the planet contained one of the Old Republic's last mints, capable of creating a "treasure" eternal". Now the kids are shown in this new episode trying to get back to their ship while Jod tries to convince his old crew to trust him once again. To that end, here are all the biggest and best Star Wars Easter eggs, references and nods to pirates that we found in Skeleton Crew episode 6.
Skeleton Crew Episode 6's Biggest Easter Eggs and Star Wars References
"Zero friends again"
- A nod to the Grinch? - The kids going down the trapdoor chute look a lot like Luke Skywalker going down the garbage chute in The Empire Strikes Back after dueling Darth Vader. It could also be a tribute to the work of Ron Howard The Grinch Who Stole Christmas and the garbage chute to Mt. Crumpet, seeing how Bryce Dallas Howard directed this episode.
- Jod is caught parallel to Smee Jod being caught by security and his former crew while covered in treasure seems a strong parallel to Smee's escape from Captain Hook.
- “Sewer rats!” - A classic pirate insult found throughout pirate media pop culture, and now in Skeleton Crew also.
- Garbage Crabs There's always something hidden in the trash Star Warsjust like the dianoga in A New Hope trash compactor scene.
- The Pirates' Space Station - The space station that serves as Brutus' pirate lair is reminiscent of the design of Ranzar Malk's Roost space station seen in The Mandalorian season 1, episode 6.
- “Crazy” Captain Silvo - Jod's former crew members add his name, calling him Captain "Crazy" Silvo, which serves to make his name even more pirate-y.
- Death by airlock THE Star Wars version of "Walk The Plank".
- Right of last resort - Continue to establish a Pirate Code in Star Warsas well as in Pirates of the Caribbean and the real-life "Golden Age of Piracy" in the 17th and 18th centuries.
- "The words of a dead man are useless" - Brutus' words seem like another way of saying "Dead Men Tell No Tales", a pirate phrase most famous in the original. Pirates of the Caribbean walk from.
- A slum for Captain Rennod and The onyx gray - The legend of Rennod continues to be fleshed out with the revelation that he and his ship had their own slum that pirates sang about in Star Wars Galaxy.
- Following The Trash Crabs, just like Jack Sparrow - As seen in 2007 Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End when Jack follows an army of dessert crabs who take The Black Pearl in Davy Jones' closet.
- Skeleton Crew Giant Crab - The small crabs that lead to a much larger one with the intention of eating the children look very similar to the spiders and Hagrid's large Acromantula called Aragog seen in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
- "I can give you one last wave!" - That seems a lot Star Trek Scotty, who often gave Captain Kirk “everything he had” while working in shipboard engineering The Company.
- Main Toy Story 3 Vibrations - Facing impending doom and destruction in front of a large garbage crusher/incinerator, the way the kids look at each other before breaking free feels a lot like the end of Toy Story 3 when Andy's toys were in a very similar situation, so much so that it actually feels like an intentional parallel.
- Smuggler's run All four children take their positions on board The onyx gray: pilot the ship, man the cannons and systems. As such, it feels like an homage to Galaxy's Edge at Disneyland Smuggler's run ride, where guests choose their roles on board The Falcon Millennium
- A piece of trash Like this The Falcon Millennium who hid his true nature and capabilities under a tougher "piece of trash" exterior, The onyx gray took a step further by literally breaking free of its outer shell.
The first six episodes of Skeleton Crew are now streaming on Disney+.
