A major error in the Italian translation ruined the entire plot of the novel. Silent Hill 2 Remake for those who use this feature. The radio message, which was supposed to be blurred to hide the plot reveal, accidentally revealed what to expect from the title’s ending.
Very early on there is a radio that you can find and use for the rest of the playthrough. When this radio is discovered, a message from the protagonist’s wife Mary begins to play, which is very difficult to hear and understand. This distortion is intended to prevent the player from solving the mystery just a few seconds after loading the game, but Due to an error with Italian subtitles, the entire message was displayed on the screen.

Typically, subtitles distort the message as well as the audio, placing dots in between to hide words that should not be heard. Instead, the Italian subtitles show that the protagonist Joseph has killed his wife Mary when she states, “Why did you kill me?” For those who don’t yet know how the story unfolds, This is a huge spoiler for the entire game.

Luckily, this was fixed almost instantly thanks to those using Italian subtitles banding together to inform the developers. Update version 1.003.000 now removes this line of text, maintaining the integrity of the plot for those who have yet to uncover the mysteries revolving around Joseph.
While this major spoiler ruins some of the content for those unlucky enough to see it, it doesn’t take away from the exciting and terrifying gameplay that fans have come to know and love. Reviews of the title have been ecstatic, to say the least. Either way, with so many endings and secrets to uncover, this unfortunate spoiler doesn’t have to be the be-all and end-all.
The Bloober team took care of the subtitles issue quickly, so at least you don’t have to worry about spoilers anymore. The beloved classic remake may have its problems, but as a horror fan, I… That Quiet Hill 2 Remake lived up to the thrilling and terrifying expectations I was hoping for, and is definitely worth a playthrough or two.
