Why Marshall and Robin Were How I Met Your Mother's Most Underrated Friendship
They were a great duo whenever they received focus
how I Met Your Mother largely focused on the friendships Ted (Josh Radnor) had with Marshall and Barney (Harris), and Robin's friendship with Lily (Alyson Hannigan). Even when they were just friends, Ted and Barney's friendships with Robin were often intertwined with their romantic feelings for her. Marshall and Robin didn't spend much time together just the two of them, which was pointed out in the show. However, Marshall and Robin had a friendship that was completely platonic, meaningful, and full of delightful mischief.making it the most underrated friendship on the show.
Ted remembered his two friends playfully fighting over who should name a drink at MacLaren's, which culminated in a dance.
The meaningful side came to light in Season 4 Episode 11, “Little Minnesota,” when Marshall thoughtfully took her to a Canadian-themed bar when she was missing Canada and her family during Christmas time. He also emphasized that she belonged in New York with her friends regardless of her current personal and professional struggles. The more humorous side of Marshall and Robin's friendship emerged in Season 8, Episode 20, “The Time Travelers”, in which Ted recalled his two friends jokingly fighting over who should name a drink at MacLaren's, which culminated in a dance.
How Season 2's Reduction Hints at a Potential Romance Between Jason Segel and Cobie Smulders' Characters
They already have strong chemistry
Unlike their purely platonic friendship in how I Met Your MotherSegel and Smulders' Shrinking the characters have a romantic spark that could lead to a relationship in future episodes. Jimmy and Sofi quickly become comfortable teasing each other, and unlike most people, who run away from Jimmy after learning about his late wife, this doesn't faze Sofi. In fact, they bond over being single people who no longer have romantic partners in their lives, although in Sofi's case it is because her ex-husband left her for her best friend.

Jimmy and Sofi are able to joke and openly discuss difficult topicswhich is what Jimmy does in every Shrinking episode. They have chemistry and seem like they could be a great couple. At the same time, Jimmy admits later in the episode that although he felt a connection with Sofi, he didn't pursue her because he didn't feel ready for something real again. Jimmy isn't ready for that relationship right now, but by the end of Season 2 or even Shrinking Season 3, maybe he and Sofi could become a couple.
