Starfields first DLC, Shattered SpaceHas a much more concrete ending than the base game. Wow Starfield is intended to be a sort of infinite loop, in which the ending is not so much an ending but a transition into New Game Plus, Shattered Space Has a definitive final moment, a decisive action that players must perform to decide the fate of Va’ruun’kai. However, there is also a much greater element of choice Shattered Spaces finale.
[Warning: This article contains spoilers for the ending of Starfield’s Shattered Space DLC.]
throughout Shattered SpaceThe player character is able to speak with a ghostly version of Anasko Va’ruun, one of the House’s early leaders. Investigating the cause of a massive explosion on Va’ruun’kai, which also resulted in the sudden appearance of violent phantoms across the galaxy, they make their way into the scaled citadel. In this central location in the history of House Va’ruun, the player learns that the explosion and phantoms were caused by an unfinished experiment that would allow House Va’ruun to create super soldiers and use them to take over the galaxy.
What happens if you submit to Anasko in Shattered Site?
The first bad ending of the DLC
Anasco asks the player to flip the final switch, reactivating all of the Scaled Citadel’s systems and deploying the super soldiers. However, there is another option available on the terminal: “Emergency shutdown.” This effectively cuts off life support to all the dormant soldiersDooming them to death.

Naturally, Anasko would prefer that the player character carry out his plan and activate the super soldier. If they don’t, he flies off the handle, calling the player character weak and a traitor. Otherwise, he thanked them for their efforts and their sacrifice—wait, sacrifice? The first step in Anasco’s plan is to activate the Scaled Citadel’s portal, transporting the entire Citadel into the Vortex..
This would kill all of the Wa’rwn’kai – both the fanatical fanatics of Anaska and the completely innocent followers. The only survivors would be Anasco and his phantom soldiers. Whether they cut off life support or activated soldiers, the player character is always presented with the same two options: Submit to Anasco or kill him.
If they decide to submit to Anasko, it will result in an instant game where the player dies in the jump to the vortex. The implication here is that Anasco and his phantom soldiers will kill the rest of House Va’ruun, and set their sights on the rest of the galaxy. This may be considered something of a bad ending; Although the final fate of Anasco’s crusade is unknown, it is quite clear that all of Va’ruun’kai is destroyed, and the player character sacrifices himself with it.

Anasko becomes the final boss of Starfield DLC
IIf the player character instead decides to fight Anasco, they will be treated to a tough battle against his phantom form and his army of super soldiers. They will, however, be able to defeat him before the portal completes its jump, and will go outside to watch as the scaled citadel implodes on itself.

The implication here is that Anasco is defeated for goodOr at least sealed for a few more millennia. Varun’kay is safe, at least from the threat, although she still has to deal with the soldiers. However, it may return to internal turmoil as it recedes into complete isolation from the rest of the galaxy. However, there is one last conversation.
Shattered Space’s second ending choice: What happens if you leave Va’ruun’kai?
The second bad ending of Starfield DLC
The player character is knocked unconscious in the implosion, and wakes up to The leaders of Varun’kai’s three houses took part with them.. In the ensuing conversation, they will have a chance to explain their final moments with Anasco, and make a decision about what comes next. Although they are not afraid to believe that Anasco was ready to kill them all, they quickly realize that his defeat means that they are currently the highest authority on Va’ruun’kai, and must reach a decision about what comes next.
The player character can choose between House Veth’al, House Dul’kehf or House Ka’dik to become Va’ruun’kai’s next ruling dynasty. They can also, however, choose to leave the planet, declaring that None of the houses are fit to lead, and house Varun is better off dead.
As they say, The player character will be expelled from the city of Dazra and declared an enemy of House Va’ruun. The three houses will continue their feud, and the fate of Va’ruun’kai is left unclear as a result. This could also be considered a bad ending, in a way; The player has a chance to put an end to the conflict of House Va’ruun, but chooses instead to leave them to their own devices. They don’t lack too much content along the way, but it’s still a bit of a disappointing fizzle as a satisfying conclusion.
Shattered Space’s second ending choice: What happens if you start the Serpent Crusade?
The third bad ending of Starfield DLC
Once the player has a chance to introduce a new speaker and explain that Anasco planned to start a second Serpent Crusade, House leaders will consider the option of taking up the mantle themselves. The player character has the last word here, and can choose either to support the crusade or announce that they are against it.
If the player agrees to start the Serpent Crusade, the implication is that House Va’ruun resumes its attacks on the settled systems with renewed vigor. Although the final result of this war is not directly depicted in the game, it’s probably pretty ugly, resulting in a wave of death and destruction across the galaxy. The player will still be allowed to return to Va’ruun’kai, and will gain access to a permanent home there whenever they wish to visit.
Shattered Space’s second ending choice: What happens if you choose peace?
Starfield’s DLC Good Ending
If the player instead decides to oppose the crusade, then House Va’ruun will enter an era of relative peace. His followers will continue to live in isolation and turn the Great Serpent, but will give up on the dream of taking over the galaxy.

This is the only good ending of the DLC, in that House Va’ruun basically accepts defeat. The player character still remains an official member, and can access their house on Va’ruun’kai just the same.
Unfortunately, beyond the immediate result, there are few reverberating effects of the player’s chosen Shattered Space ending over the rest of the game. It ultimately comes down to a role-playing choice, in which players can decide to do what makes the most sense for them Starfield Letters.
